Product information
Woven from coppiced hazel to a traditional pattern, this beautiful, robust and eco-friendly 4ft 6in hazel fence panel will make a perfect practical addition to your garden. Bring a part of the countryside to your very own garden with this hazel fence panel, which will not only be ideal for the traditional English country garden but also provide gardeners in the 21st century with the opportunity to create a natural look for modern urban spaces. The hazel horizontals are large, appearing more like 'branches' of a tree, generally from 1 to 2cm thick giving a more sturdy and robust feel to your fencing. They have been strongly built and depending on the level of exposure to wind and how well they are secured in place, they can be expected to provide a good few years of service and will age gracefully while still maintaining sturdiness. Hazel fencing is coppiced, meaning the branches are cut only from new growth. The purpose is two-fold: to ensure that the branches or 'wands' are flexible and of reasonably uniform thickness, and to allow more growth for next year.

Features and benefits
They can be cut easily to reduce the height by cutting the verticals and removing unrequired horizontals. The width can be reduced by carefully cutting to ensure that the horizontals don't become unwoven. Alternatively, overlap adjacent hurdles to reduce width. Hazel and willow hurdles are perhaps the oldest form of fencing in Britain, dating back as far as Neolithic times 5000 years ago. Robust, beautiful and eco-friendly, they are not only ideal for the traditional English country garden, but also provide gardeners in the 21st century with the opportunity to create a unique, natural look for modern urban spaces.
Please Note: The height refers to the horizontal woven section - the vertical stakes sticking out at the top and bottom add up to an extra 6 inches.
- Our fence panels feature a timeless, traditional design that not only provides security but also adds an attractive touch to your garden or outdoor space.
- We take pride in our eco-conscious approach by using natural and ethically sourced hazel for our fence panels. This not only benefits the environment but also ensures the long-lasting durability of your garden fencing.
- Our hazel fence panels are created through a meticulous coppicing process, ensuring flexibility and uniform thickness. This method guarantees a fence that can adapt to your garden's needs.
- Our fence panels are built with robustness in mind. Depending on factors such as wind exposure and proper installation, you can expect them to gracefully age while serving their purpose for years to come.
- The rustic design of our fence panels creates a captivating woodland aesthetic, bringing the beauty of nature to your garden.
- Many prefer to let our fence panels age naturally, taking on a beautiful grey patina over time. Alternatively, you can choose to use any clear, commercially available fence preservative to maintain the original look.
- Our fence panels offer the convenience of customization. You can easily adjust their height by cutting the vertical elements and removing unwanted horizontals. For width reduction, a careful cut ensures the horizontals remain securely woven. You can also overlap adjacent panels to achieve the desired width.
