Experience early blooms with Hydrangea macrophylla 'Early Blue', This hardy shrub is a garden treasure, boasting vibrant flowers weeks ahead of most varieties. As summer arrives, dark blue florets burst into large mophead blooms at the tips of each stem. Even as the flowers gradually fade, the skeletal seedheads linger, providing year-round interest. The blue blooms will fade to pink through autumn, so for the deepest blue flowers right through the season we recommend the use of Hydrangea colourant. Mature height and spread: 120cm. Supplied as a pot-grown plant in a 10.5cm nursery pot.

Hydrangea plants prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively plant in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
