Buying guides

Buyer's guide to kitchen sinks

Buyer's guide to kitchen sinks

Choosing the right kitchen sink is about more than just design. Important for washing hands, rinsing vegetables, cleaning up afterwards and so much more, it’s something you’ll use every day. With that in mind, you need to make sure that you’ve chosen the right type of material, style and have added the perfect accessories to make it work for you.

Are you updating your entire kitchen, with your new sink being part of the refurbishment? Or are you just looking for a replacement for what you have currently? Either way, you need to think about the size and shape of your new sink, whether you want it with a drainer, as well as the type of material that your worktop is made from – as not all sinks work with all worktops.

For those who are starting from scratch, size and position are completely up to you (dependent on the plumbing) and so think about what you’ve had previously and what you’d like to change about it. Was it big enough? Would you like more than one bowl? And of course, think about the overall style you’re going for – a modern look kitchen may suit a toughened glass, 1.5 bowl sink, while a more traditional style would suit a ceramic or Belfast sink.

If you’re replacing what you have currently, be sure to take accurate measurements of the sink and holes to ensure that your new sink will fit. But while you may be restricted by size, do explore different material options to completely refresh the look: if you had stainless steel one before, why not have a composite sink now? You’ll also find that updating your kitchen taps or adding some new sink accessories could make you feel as though you’re in a completely new kitchen.

Let us help you find the right sink for your home and add the finishing touch to your dream kitchen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from big sink after searching for a sink for over a month i gave up and just purchased a cheep one just for short while but was so impressed with this i have decided to keep it, its a very large sink which is what i wanted, one that i could put large items in that are too big for the dishwasher.Instead of cutting the hole out for the sink we bought taps that were on a tall movable stem and placed in the corner directly in the worktop itself and it looks great, so if i decided to change the position of the sink it has no hole so i can still go as left/right drainer, whatever the mood takes me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality I brought this 2 weeks ago and I'm really pleased with the quality and it looks lovely in my kitchen. The bowl is a very good size and the sink is very easy to clean. Just needs wiping with a damp cloth. Cannot comment on installation as I had plumber install it for me. Very happy customer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good for the price Ok so needed a new sink and i was limited to what i could have so this one was it after searching. Its a fantastic sink it really is but the biggest draw back is you have to drill the hole for the taps and the switch for the taps if limited to where you can place that as i am. I placed mine in the front. It came with overflow and all the plumbing pipes ect despite it stating it never. So that was a hugh plus. Another draw back is the instructions there are none so unless you good at this sort of thing or happy to spend ages playing about like i was you need help to have it installed. What you get is a waste of time and no help. Also no template so if like me your replacing a old sink and need to make a bigger hole a template would have made life easier. The sink is fantastic but it could do with predrilled holes and better instructions plus template. Other wise its fantastic so 4 stars. Price was 94 pounds half compared to others like so that too makes this very good.
