How to apply
We’re so pleased that you’re thinking of joining our team. And you’ll be pleased to know that it couldn’t be simpler to apply. Whether you know which career path you wish to follow or if you’re unsure and want to explore the exciting possibilities available, just follow these steps…
3 simple steps
1. Before submitting your application, it’s important you feel B&Q is the right employer for you. Have a look around this site and our website DIY.com, visit your local store and check out our social networking sites to understand what it means to wear the orange apron.
Take a look at our Recruitment FAQs.
3. Once you’ve found a job that seems right for you, create your Personal Account and complete your Online Job Application – this takes around 30 minutes. Here’s where you can tell us all about yourself and share your experiences. All the information you provide will be confidential.
And that’s it! Once you’ve finished, your details will be reviewed against our selection criteria and you’ll receive an email notifying you of your application’s success (don’t forget to check your spam folder just in case!)
If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to a telephone interview with one of our specialist recruiters. This will take around 20 minutes. Following the telephone interview, you’ll receive feedback on the status of your application by email.
Depending on the job you’ve applied for, you’ll either be invited to a face-to-face interview or a selection event.
Interviews will involve behavioural and/or competency based questions, which will last about one hour. And you’ll meet with one or two of our Line Managers specific to that job.
A selection event or assessment centre, involves practical, interactive exercises and potentially an interview at the end. This helps us to understand if you’d be successful at B&Q and allows you to understand what it’s like to work for us.
Many of our Store Management and Store Support Office roles involve a 2nd interview with our Senior Management team.
Feedback will be provided via telephone or email at each stage to let you know how you got on. If you’re successful, we’ll give a call to share the good news and discuss all the details of your new role!
