Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brown tiles Bought these for our games/ training room, great on flat surface , however we put them down on our old floor, so we had to take back up and put self level on then plywood! Ended up a fab buy. Just the job :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value, but.... Bought the brown and white tiles for a chequer board design kitchen floor. I'm not a professional tiler but do have quite a bit of tiling / DIY experience. The dimensional accuracy of the tiles is not brilliant, there is a small difference in size between the white and brown tiles and their sides which when compounded adds up. They are not very flat (warped)and require a reasonably thick adhesive bed to make sure they are well supported. I'm not sure if I've become clumsy in my old age but I broke more tiles on this project than I have in all my other tiling projects added up! Just using the side of my hand to bed them down resulted in breakages, whereas on other tiles I have used a rubber mallet with no problems. Even cutting with a wet cutter requires more care than normal to avoid breakages. To sum up: These are a nice looking tile that I would recommend to anyone who is NOT a novice DIYer. Take care when cutting/ laying, use a full adhesive bed and you should get a good result. Lastly, at £5 a sqr M these tiles are cheap so should one be too critical of their caveats?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Calibre 17 made by the devils helpers I have just laid 12m of these in a kitchen and despite being a little warped and slight variation in size, they look good. This was calibre 21. Now onto the mere 6m in the utility room.... This was calibre 17 (the tiles were home delivered, although the production date and batch were the same I had two different calibres delivered, hence why I am writing about two) Calibre refers to the tiles size, usually when produced they are separated into calibres to avoid going over the British recommend 3mm tolerance. Calibre 17 took this to the extreme, 3m in my grout line disappeared??!! gone, stolen from under my nose. I noticed a few lines were looking triangular so I measured a tile, it was 332mm one end and 335mm the other. By the time I had realized this I was ready to murder somebody or something. I am fairly patience but when you are trying to get a job done it would be nice if the tiles could meet you halfway. Most of these tiles were bowed, so much so that if you put two together face to face you could see through the 6mm gap in the centre. There is a saying you get what you pay for, I also believe that they should at least be fit for purpose. As a tiler my advice is this (after lessons learnt) Avoid calibre 17 like the plague, when laying these use a thick bed adhesive and use a min 5mm spacer, if like me you used a 3mm then you are going to come unstuck.
