Product Information

This Antique white satin wood & metal paint has been specially designed to give a durable and long-lasting finish on interior wood & metal. Simply apply 1 coat with a brush or roller and leave for 24 hours to dry - a great way to give the surfaces additional protection. Covers up to 13 m² per litre on average.

Features and Benefits

At B&Q we want you to be satisfied with your colour selection. Not all monitors will display colours the same and paint tins may not show the same colour as your walls do in natural light. We therefore recommend you order a tester pot online or pop in store to pick one up so you are sure that this is the right colour for you.

  • Great coverage in just one coat, saving you time and money
  • We recommend using a one coat roller for optimal application
  • For best results follow the instructions on the tin carefully, a second coat may be required if overpainting a darker colour with a lighter top coat

How to guides

How to prepare a wall for painting

How to prepare a wall for painting

While it can be tempting to get painting as soon as possible when you want to decorate a room, it’s worth taking the time to make sure your room and surfaces are best prepared before you begin. Getting the preparation right is crucial to achieving the perfect finish. It’ll also help to keep things neater and cleaner, and reduce the need for additional coats of paint. No paint can completely cover dirty or uneven surfaces, so tackling this at the start of the project avoids the need for extra work later on.

In this guide we’ll walk you through the most important steps to take, and show you how to;

  • Empty your room ready for decorating, and protect fixtures and fittings you aren't painting
  • Clean your walls to help paint adhere
  • Fill holes and cracks and smooth your walls for the best possible finish
  • Prime stained surfaces or those which have not been painted before

Once you've completed these tasks you should have a smooth, even surface ready to be painted.

If you're painting on bare wood, plaster or metal surfaces, you'll get a better result if you use a primer first. It provides a surface which the paint can bond to and stops the paint being absorbed. Find out more what you need and for what surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does was it says on tin! I have used this paint for skirting boards and interior doors, excellent coverage and once dry very few brush marks. Much better and easier to use than acrylic paints. Quite thick, so have at times thinned it down a little to make it slightly easier to apply. Use with good quality brush!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Prep is key! Good results if you prep well! I've used this paint for furniture restoration. The reviews aren't very good but it's how you use the product. Prep is key make sure you sand and prime your wood with at least 2 coats and sand any drips inbetween coats and wipe with with a tack cloth each time, this also applies to bare wood! If you cut corners your finish will be poor with this paint. Use a brush for cutting in on corners and only use a gloss roller for large area coverage blending your corners as you go. The only downside is that this paint isn't 'one coat' I've found that no wood paint ever really is, if you want perfect results you have to put the work in and be patient! I've found that naturally lighter wood is easier to take, I recently did a large dark armoire that took 4 coats of primer and 3 cans of paint to finish. The finish is flat and non glossy when cured (after about 3 weeks) it looks quite shiny at first when drying. Give it time!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Colour not as on tin This was supposed to be antique white but it is too bright. The colour on the tin looked a perfect match for the colour I was trying to achieve, but once dried it was more ice white than antique. Tried a second coat and still too bright. Quality of the paint is OK but colour match dissapointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I believed the tin. This is a lovely colour and was warmer than the white that was there previously, which is what I was looking for. Unfortunately 'one coat' was a lie. Three coats later and I had an even coverage. I should know better!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NONE Does not cover in one coat, and it takes age to dry. Paint still soft after 4, days wont use it again .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute rubbish, do not use!!! I would have given 0 stars if I could. Should have been warned by the re-coat time, IT'S MEANT TO BE ONE COAT! 7 doors to do, hate doing doors, only wanted to do them once, thanks B & Q, will have to keep painting till this product decides to give an even covering, which seems to be never!!! BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Satin Paint ( top coat) N Not the same as the other Colours paint - now appears to be acrylic, like painting with glue and the smell gives you a headache, Unfortunately only realised after using so having to continue so the paintwork is all the same.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible to apply, awful result, take ages to dry This paint is horrible to apply, it gives an awful result and you'll need more than one coat. Also, get some gloves, and brushes you'll use one time with this paint, cause you won't take it off of it. It's the worst paint I've ever used. And, it takes literally ages to dry. AVOID at all cost.
