Rated 5 out of 5 by from Step Step to seat. I use the step to make a window dear in the kitchen facing up to the end of the worktop. The smooth and rounded edge finish was perfect

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stairs They make my stairs look beautiful. The only thing I would recommend is they give them a raised grain so they are not slippery. I nearly slipped down the stairs the other day luckily I have two hand rails.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes a massive difference When unpacking, the colour difference was very noticeable, however we had already pulled the carpet off so decided to go ahead and fit them. Once fitted the colour difference wasn't noticeable. Cut with an electric saw for the depth, however, we had to hand cut the width on steps as the electric saw was shattering the bullnoses. Would definitely recommend! Father fitted them and they were very straight forward. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very attractive, but no instructions! We bought this stair cladding kit for just one step, to match our oak flooring. It's well made and attractive. However the pack contained no fitting instructions, other than a few sketchy photos on the box. There is a video on the maker's website, but this is aimed at professional fitters. It says to cut the riser and tread "to the required size", but does not explain how that should be calculated. Diagrams and pictures are not sufficiently clear or self-explanatory and it doesn't give a clear explanation of how it should fit together. Consequently, we misunderstood the height of the riser and cut it to fit underneath, rather than flush with the top. We had to buy a second kit, because the riser was spoilt. Now that it's finished it looks great, but it cost twice as much, because of poor instructions. DIY kits should not assume professional knowledge as even experienced DIYers need to understand how something works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from B&Q Stair Overlay Kits I've just finished installing these....here's my review. The packs come extremely well packaged with protection over the oak surfaces which kept every one perfect - well done supplier. There are three pictures together with the kits which represent fitting instructions - these are inadequate and do not alert potential installers to the possible issues they face when fitting. I'm guessing that most people attempting this kind of task have some experience and possibly already would be aware of the issues. Less experienced installers might find considerable difficulties being unaware and not pre-warned by the instructions. Most importantly, and obviously I guess, every tread and riser will need cutting for width and depth as out of the pack, as the instructions don't mention, they are too big! Cutting laminate products is tricky [as the top surface can splinter and look dreadful] and as the cuts on this job show they need to be clean and neat. If you don't have a table saw with a decent blade you will struggle. Jigsaws are not ideal on straight lines and hand saws are a non-starter. It's worth noting that on older stairs the treads tend to 'dip' in the middle as a result of years of wear so the riser [if cut straight!] will show a gap where the tread dips. This means you'll need to scribe the riser in or fit a cover strip to close the gap. Matching the colour of the strip to the kit colour might prove tricky if that's the way you decide to go. Next... if you have anything other than straight, even steps you'll be fine, if however, like on may stairs you have a single or double curved bottom step you'll need to be able to make up a tread yourself, again matching the kit colour could be difficult! In summary...£350 for a set of oak stairs you can't complain - but you'll need to have some skills and some woodworking kit to get a decent outcome. SC.
