How to understand building and planning regulations

How to understand building and planning regulations

What are planning and building controls? Why do they exist? Can you deal with them yourself or is it best to ask a specialist? As with any task, you can decide for yourself when you know exactly what's involved.

First of all, it's important to understand what planning and building regulations are. It's easy to think of them as restrictive, bureaucratic tools put in place purely to thwart your ambitions. However, they're essential safety mechanisms which have been designed to protect you, your neighbours and the local environment.

The regulatory bodies will give you permission to carry out your plans unless there are very good reasons not to - in which case they must explain their decision. And if you disagree, you have the right to appeal against it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good weight, strong and sturdy... This is a really good saw, it's got a nice weight to it and feels comfy in my hand. The locking mechanism is very good and sturdy, it holds the blade tight for nice accurate cuts, the only thing i would change on it, is when you take the blade out, the pin in the locking lever falls back, so either keep the saw angled forward, or spend 3 seconds putting it back in place when you change the blade. It's not a big thing or even that fiddly to do, i just think they could of designed it better. The blade that comes with it is pretty basic, like most saws you buy, change the blade for something decent and this would be a brilliant saw for anyone, both diy and trade (I say trade because I was an engineer for 8 years, my dad owns his own engineering business and we both agree, it's a very good saw, so good, he brought one for at work after he tried mine out)
