Save money ... and save energy "Although most lofts have some insulation, you may not have enough, so top yours up and watch your bills drop. The great thing is it’s cheap to install as B&Q sells loft insulation from £1 a roll."Watch the video
1. If you’ve already got insulation in your loft, use looselay insulation to top it up to 100mm (usually the height of the joists). It’s a new, quick and easy product that’s easy to lay, with no need for cutting.
2. To create a storage area, attach loft stilts to the top of the joists (so you don’t squash your insulation) in the required part of your loft. These enable you to have 300mm insulation plus a storage space.
3. Top up your insulation to 300mm either with more looselay or by rolling out a 200mm-thick blanket at right angles to the joists, in between the loft stilts. Place loft boards on top of the stilts for a storage area.
