Ceramic tiles

  • Easy to fix and cut
  • Doesn’t require sealing
  • Low maintenance
  • Waterproof after grouting
  • Ceramic tiles can mimic natural stone tiles, for example using inkjet technology

Porcelain tiles

  • Hard-wearing and durable
  • Can be glazed or unglazed
  • Glazed porcelain is ideal for high traffic areas such as hallways and kitchens
  • Unglazed porcelain requires cleaning and sealing
  • All floor tiles must be laid on a completely level floor and properly bedded on a suitable adhesive
  • Tiles should be fitted with an adhesive specially designed for porcelain tiles, e.g. powdered adhesives

Slate tiles

  • Slate is strong and durable
  • Doesn’t easily stain or scratch
  • Can be used in most heavy traffic living areas
  • Some slate tiles are suitable for outdoors (check individual tile packaging)
  • Travertine tiles are made from natural stone – no two tiles are ever the same
  • Available in natural, tumbled or polished finishes
  • Can be used in low traffic areas
  • Requires sealing and regular cleaning
  • Travertine is a natural material characterised by the presence of voids in the stone. These voids can be filled or left unfilled. Further voids can be exposed with use e.g. floor tiles. These can be filled with a coloured grout or resin/cement.

Marble tiles

  • Should be sealed before and after fixing
  • Polished with a gloss finish
  • No two tiles are ever the same
  • Highly polished finishes may not be suitable for wet areas
  • Granite is very durable and easy to maintain
  • Can be used in most heavy traffic living areas
  • Colour won’t fade
  • Waterproof once grouted and sealed

Lounge slim tile

If you want to avoid a lot of mess and hard work in removing old tiles before you start your tiling project, the slim tile is the perfect solution.

  • Designed for tiling over existing tiles
  • Less than half the thickness of traditional tiles
