Our style houses…

Want a coordinated home? Simple, just decide which of our four B&Q style houses is for you. Is it contemporary, multicolour, heritage or authentic? Each style house produces seasonal style stories, which encapsulate new products and themes. However the core style of the house remains, ensuring an overall consistent style for your home year on year.

City Escapes

Bold, sleek, simple, cool. Simple and design-led to create a sleek, urban environment. Bold graphic patterns and stripes combined with neutral grey tones are energised with splashes of tangy green.

How we did it…

In this style we focused on big statements to achieve the look.

Using a range of greys with hints of more natural shades helps achieve the “bringing the outside in” feel, in a contemporary style. We have a range of “floating” shelves that can really enhance the clean lines needed to nail this look. In addition new wall art will reinforce the overall look. Finally add splashes of a single chosen colour with cushions and throws - we've used green, what's your favourite?

This season Multicolour has introduced two style stories, Ethnic Colour and Fluro Therapy.
Both these stories reflect the bright and vibrant style of the Multicolour style house!

Fluro therapy

Fluro therapy

Vivid, vibrant, fresh, bright. Bold and vibrant colour combinations for creative home decor. Simple geometric shapes create a playful adult look with bold accent colours including flashes of bright fluorescents.

How we did it…

To create this look we chose a range of coordinated bright colours and set them off against simple clean white backgrounds.

This is easily achievable using white paint on the main walls. You may also wish to pick out walls using abstract style wallpaper? Select colourful soft furnishings to introduce colour into the room, you may wish to spruce up tired wooden chairs or doors in a matching colours too. As a finishing touch you can use chrome or polished items to reinforce this fresh style.

Ethnic colour

Ethnic colour

Modern, vibrant, clean, bright. A joyous contrast of prints inspired by other cultures and simple, graphic patterns using a palette of vibrant, uplifting shades on a fresh white background.

How we did it…

To achieve this look, focus on bold new curtains that will fill the room with colour.

Contrast this with cushions of different colours and patterns to establish the core of this trend. Use our range of paint to find a clean, fresh shade of white to set off the colour of the soft furnishings.

Romantic Arty

Glamorous, timeless, indulgent, lavish. Soft colours and classic materials echo the elegance of the past. Combining luxurious textiles with sumptuous, quilted textures and pretty patterns in a subtle palette of soft pastels.

How we did it…

The key items used to create this look feature a mix of light shades of whites, pastel greys and pinks.

This is easy to achieve with the correct shades and finish of paint. Differentiate the shades on the walls with those of the doors and skirting boards. We offer a range of paints suitable for wooden surfaces to help you achieve this. Prints are delicate and softer on the eye, blending with other colours in the room. These can be achieved with a subtle print wallpaper or paintable textured vinyl wallpaper.

Menorca

Menorca

Relaxed, fresh, natural, textured. Inspired by natural materials for a warm and homely feel. Charming striped textiles in a palette of natural shades accented with coral and turquoise.

How we did it…

Focus on textured finishes to achieve this style.

Perhaps use one of our textured spray paints to refinish a piece of furniture? Natural shades of coral and turquoise are key and can be easily achieved in large areas with paint or curtains. Create interest and display your ornaments as part of the new style, and add more elements of the travelling theme with wall art of natural themes.

Petit Journal

Petit Journal

Take inspiration from nature with different textures and materials. Big knits and bold stripes help create a fresh atmosphere.

How we did it…

Focus on mixing neutral shades and colours for a natural style.

Choose stripes and plains, red, white and blue; they're the colours of the season to create a cosy, relaxed atmosphere with a beachside feel. Add interest and use one of our authentic wallpapers on a feature wall or simply displayed inside a simple wooden frame. Add warmth with a cosy rug.
