transport

Here at B&Q we are dedicated to our One Planet commitments, to being a good neighbour in the community and to encouraging sustainable modes of transport to our staff and customers.

why do we care?

The way in which we travel to and from work is not just an environmental issue, it can also be a real local concern - traffic jams and congestion do not enhance the environment or our daily life.

We recognise the commitments to reducing carbon emissions as well as promoting healthier ways of living to staff and one way in which we do this is through Travel Plans.

our commitments

Since 2002, we have been committed to introducing Travel Plans to our new store development programme including our Store Support Office in Chandlers Ford.

A Travel Plan is a package of measures promoting more sustainable travel and transport choices such as cycling, car sharing, walking and using public transport.

It's predominantly aimed at employees but also targets interest from customers by including travel information in relevant stores such as bus timetables, cycle route maps etc.

what we've achieved so far

Our Store Support Office and new stores have shower and changing facilities, cycle parking and infrastructure that accommodates good pedestrian and public transport links.

In 2009, we also introduced a "Responsible Travel Guide" to all non-travel plan stores in order to promote sustainable transport to all of our stores.

For more information please contact travelplans@b-and-q.co.uk.

We have provided a facility for customers to find door to door public transport links Opens link in new window on diy.com from our store locator pages.
