Before you begin
There are a few things to think about before buying your new garden furniture.
How much space do you have?
Do you have a large garden with lots of room? Or just a balcony to work with? Whatever size outdoor space you have, we have an option to suit you. But it's important at this early stage to get a general sense of available space (exact measurements might help but will only be necessary in very small spots) so that you don't end up with something that doesn't fit.
What will you be using your garden furniture for?
Who will be using your garden furniture and for what purpose? Are you going to be dining al fresco with all your friends and family, or are you more likely to be relaxing by yourself? By understanding how you'll be enjoying outdoor living, you'll get a better sense of how many seats you’ll need, and how big your table should be – if you need one at all.
What is your access like?
How will you be setting up your garden furniture to position it where you want it? For example, choosing a heavy, non-foldable option isn't the best choice for balconies as it'll be too heavy to get upstairs and may not fit easily through doors.
Where will your furniture be stored?
Don't forget to consider what will happen to your garden furniture when it’s not in use – where will it live? Do you need to be able to move it out of the way, or do you have plenty of space to keep it outside all year long? Certain materials are very robust at standing up to the elements, while smaller, lightweight furniture can more easily be stored in a shed or garage.
How much maintenance does your garden furniture require?
Think about how much effort you want to put into to caring for your garden furniture, as some materials require more work than others. Are you happy to give it a lick of paint or protective treatment every year or are you looking for something less demanding? It's an essential consideration as you want to be able to enjoy your garden furniture for years to come.
Opt for garden furniture in one of three materials: wood, metal and rattan effect.
Wooden garden furniture
Bring a natural and timeless look to your outdoor space with wooden garden furniture. Beautiful raw material combined with stylish classic design is the cornerstone of our wood range and all of our wood used is Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) approved. This means that is has been responsibly sourced. We offer it in three traditional styles - hardwood, painted wood and teak.
Made from wood such as acacia or eucalyptus, our hardwood garden furniture naturally weathers over time, and as such we recommend caring for it at least once a year with protective treatment to ensure that it lasts as long as possible.
Painted wood garden furniture
For an elegant, summery look, choose our painted wooden furniture. Covered with a durable outdoor paint, your furniture will need no further treatment to protect it. Keep it clean by rubbing away dirt with a damp cloth.
Teak garden furniture
Combining gorgeous warmth with a hard-wearing durability, teak garden furniture requires less upkeep than hardwood alternatives. A dense wood with a straight grain, it won't warp or crack over time, and due to its high oil content, is more water-resistant than other woods and so won't rot even in the dampest conditions. Other than the occasional sanding to remove surface dirt, teak doesn’t need any maintenance, and if left over time will turn from a light, golden brown to a stylish silver grey. Alternatively, maintain the original look with regular protective treatment.
Metal garden furniture
If you’re looking for something sturdy and easy to care for, consider metal garden furniture. We offer steel and aluminium options in styles to suit all – from classic to contemporary – as well as different colours.
Both our steel and aluminium garden furniture ranges will last for years to come and are low-maintenance, only requiring an occasional wash with soapy water. Steel is extremely strong and heavy, while aluminium will never rust and so can be left outside in all weather conditions. It's also more lightweight, making it easier to move around.
Rattan effect garden furniture
f you’re looking for subtle yet stylish garden furniture that blends into your garden, explore our rattan effect collections. Its natural look makes rattan effect perfectly suited for most décor, and it’s versatile enough to work both outdoors and in – such as in a conservatory. There's very little maintenance required - just give it the occasional wash with soapy water. Though don’t use hoses or any jet power sprays as a strong stream of water could damage the furniture. We offer rattan effect in two options - resin weave and moulded resin.
Rattan effect resin weave garden furniture
Resin weave is a hard-wearing, yet lightweight and supple material. Not only is it resistant to mould and mildew, it’s also UV resistant so the colour won’t fade. It can withstand changes in temperature, and neither the material or the furniture's aluminium frame will be damaged by rainfall. Leave it outside all year and this handmade furniture will continue to look good.
Rattan effect moulded resin garden furniture
Comprised entirely of resin with no metal frame, this alternative requires assembly and is a great budget alternative.
From al fresco dining to children's play, our wide range of garden furniture offers something for all outdoor living.
Garden furniture dining sets
Ideal for families and socialising, our dining sets seat between four and eight people and are available in a range of different styles and materials.
Choose from square, rectangular or round tables and look out for extra features with certain models. Opt for one with a lazy Susan - a revolving tray in the centre of the table to share food more easily. Or why not consider our set with a fire pit? Safely nested into a recess in the table's centre, it'll keep you warm when there’s a nip in the air and is sure to create a talking point. Alternatively fit the recess with an ice bucket (this also comes with the set) for chilled drinks.
As well as deciding the number of seats you need, think about the sort of chairs you’d like. Options include folding and stackable chairs for those tight on space or even comfy armchairs. And look out for our casual dining set with hidden storage space under the sofas.
Garden furniture bistro sets
For more intimate seating straight from a continental street or courtyard, choose a two-seater bistro set. Available in either wood or metal, and with round or square tables, we offer several styles to suit many outdoor looks. And all our options are easy to store, with the chairs either stackable or foldable – making them perfect for the smaller garden or balcony.
Garden furniture coffee sets
Relax and enjoy a lazy summer day by having tea and cakes while sitting on one of these luxurious sets. We offer two four-seater sets - the Henley and the Elsa. The Henley is ready-made from rattan effect resin weave with an aluminium frame and is hand-made so each piece is unique. The Elsa is metal-free and requires assembly.
Garden chairs and tables
Need some extra seating for a party or event or looking for something portable to take to a festival or picnic? Our range of chairs includes everything from collapsible camping and beach chairs, to extra chairs for your dining and bistro sets. And for a truly eye-catching statement chair, check out the Anya egg chair - perfect for a summer snuggle.
And if you need some extra surface space for serving food and drinks, pick up one of our individual tables. Opt for ones that coordinate with those in our dining sets or create a mismatched look with a different colour, material or style.
Sunloungers and recliners
Soak up the sun with one of our more laid-back seating options. With the multi-position feature, you can decide whether you want to recline completely or just take it back a few notches – plus they can be easily folded away for storage.
For the more traditional garden, nothing beats a classic wooden bench. And if you really want to evoke the fun feeling of a park, why not consider a picnic bench? Or add some swing to your summer with a swinging bench for a more quirky addition to your outdoor space.
Garden activity tables
Getting your kids out in the sunshine is simple with an activity table. With separate compartments accessed by removing a wooden lid – they can play with sand or water and store their toys and games away inside. Replace the lid for a flat surface ideal for activities like painting or colouring, as well as having some lunch.
Garden love seats
Looking for a seat made for two? A love seat is the ideal way for you to enjoy the outdoors with your special someone. Built with an incorporated table that will hold a cold drink or a book, this hardwood seat from our Victoria collection will add a little bit of romance to any garden.
You might need
Parasols and parasol bases
Stay protected when enjoying the summer sun with a parasol. We offer two types: those with a straight pole and those that overhang for greater flexibility in your coverage. Pick up the suitable base to accompany your parasol - the Tobago II base works with straight pole parasols, while the Tivano resin base is suited to overhanging parasols.
To keep your parasol in good condition, take it down when not in use.
For added comfort, why not add cushions to your seating? Pick an option that will complement your colour scheme and it will tie your furniture in with the rest of your garden, as well as helping you enjoy the outdoors for longer without discomfort. To keep them looking good, store them away when not in use.
Garden furniture covers and storage
Where are you going to keep your furniture when it’s not in use? While some options can be kept outside all year, most will last longer if stored out of the elements – plus it will cut down on clutter. If you have the room for a garden building, read our buyer’s guide to sheds to find out more about the options available to you. Or if space is tight, snap up some garden storage or garden furniture covers.
Garden furniture cleaning and maintenance
If, after a while, your garden furniture starts to get a bit dirty, a damp cloth and warm soapy water will usually be enough to remove dirt from most materials. Alternatively garden furniture cleaning spray can be used, though wood furniture requires more specialist care. For this apply a wood furniture cleaner (if necessary) and add further protection with an external paint, stain or varnish.
