Tools & materials required
Christmas trend no.1: Hessian
If you want a Christmas look with a rustic edge, hessian is the ideal material to create that country charm feel. This year, it doesn’t stop at hessian sacks and stockings – this woven fabric is now being used in all sorts of decorations throughout the home. Its neutral tone looks great with any colour scheme and adds warmth and texture to your holiday style.
One of our favourite items is this hessian star trio set (pictured) which will work well both indoors or outside. Try placing them in your windows so that they welcome your guests as they arrive.
Our incredibly versatile hessian roll is a great way to tie your whole look together. It’s an ideal alternative to tinsel, and can be used on your Christmas tree, wrapped around bannisters or draped over mantelpieces.
It can also be used on your Christmas table. Run it down the centre of the table, and cut it up to make matching placemats – its 8 metres (m) long, so can accommodate several guests. Arrange copper wire lights on top of your hessian runner for added twinkle. You could even team it with these hessian bows tied to white, linen napkins and you’ll create a wintery look that is sophisticated and stylish.
Christmas trend no.2: Colour changing lights & holographic decorations
If you’re looking for a way to incorporate the latest technologies into your Christmas style, look no further than our innovative Christmas lights. We have spectacular colour changing lights and striking holographic lights.
Our colour changing string lights gradually evolve through the colour spectrum. They showcase all the colours of the rainbow, instead of flashing through the same few colours like traditional multicolour lights do. Rather than flashing instantly from blue to green, these lights will move through azure, turquoise and spring green (and many more) to create a glorious effect.
Our brand new selection of holographic lanterns and baubles are really striking. They have a unique design that gives the impression of a 3D light show inside the decoration.
They are battery-operated so can be hung without worries about cables and sockets. These brightly coloured lights are great fun for kids and bring a touch of magic to your Christmas display.
Christmas trend no.3: Copper wire lights
Delicate and versatile, our copper wire lights are ideal if you want to get a bit creative with the Christmas decorations this year. Because they are battery-powered, these pretty little lights can be used in a lot of different ways throughout your home.
Wrap them around a Christmas wreath or centrepiece to light up your table for dinner. Fill hurricane vases with baubles that fit into your colour scheme and position the lights around the baubles to create a stunning Christmas look for your mantelpiece or shelves. You could also simply string them up over mirrors and pictures to add some sparkle to your home.
Copper wire lights can be used all year round throughout the house. With their transparent cables, you can be sure that our copper wire lights will blend into any look you’re trying to create.
Our copper wire lights are available in three colours: warm white, ice white and colour changing, and are 2.2.m long. So whether you’re looking to use them to create a big statement, or a more understated look, we have options for you.
Christmas trend no.4: Purple & teal decorations
Remember you don’t have to stick to the traditional red, gold and green when decorating your home for the holidays. Shake up your Christmas decorations by adding some purple or teal decorations into the mix. Not only do they look great with both the gold and/or silver baubles and tinsel that you might have already, these two colours make a bold statement next to the green of your tree.
A sophisticated choice, using purple and teal together offers a fresh alternative to the standard festive fare - and will excite children and adults alike by reminding them of a favourite wintery movie, Disney’s 'Frozen'.
We also love this purple tinsel table tree pre-lit with LED lights and with a few matching decorations already attached. By adding a few more teal decorations will make this an ideal addition to your new look Christmas.Shop purple & teal Christmas decorations
Christmas trend no.5: Penguins
Marching into our stores in a big way this year, penguins are the perfect characters to have in your family home. Cute, cuddly and fun, we have penguin-themed options for indoors and outdoors.
Our Christmas light silhouettes, like the LED pop up tinsel family silhouette (pictured), can be used inside or out to create an effective Christmas look.
To decorate indoors, we can’t get enough of these penguin string lights (pictured), which can be strung over your tree or doorways.
Looking for the perfect item to keep the kids entertained? We love our penguin Christmas friend who sings a version of ‘Christmas is all Around’ from the film 'Love Actually' while flapping its wings and swaying its body.
For an animation that the whole family can enjoy, check out our cuddly Bluetooth penguin (pictured). It will sync with your phone or MP3 player to play your favourite songs and audio books. The penguin’s cheeks and tummy light up, and evolve through several colours. You can also use the built-in audio controls in the wings to adjust how loud it is, as well as pause or skip the music. This adorable fellow is ideal for use all year round.
Christmas trend no.6: Slogans
For those of us that like the cheeky side of the festive season, check out our selection of Christmassy items with slogans and messages. Take a look at our range and find the perfect catchphrase for your family.
If you have little ones who want to countdown to the big day, check out this red and white metal sign (pictured). It comes with a magnetic arrow that they can move every day to show them how many sleeps they have until Father Christmas comes.
How about this stylish grey stocking with the slogan "naughty, nice, really tried" on it for those who aren't sure if they are on the naughty or nice list this year.
We love this rattan wreath (pictured) for the front door that says Merry Christmas. It’s the perfect combination of festive and fun for those that want a more rustic look this year. Or what about this red berry wreath which has its own chalkboard? Write your own note or slogan to make the welcoming message to your guests personal to your home. You could even add a selection of personalised decorations into your Christmas display like this chalkboard tree decoration.
Got someone at home who can be a bit of a Scrooge? Even the famous character from 'A Christmas Carol' would approve of this metal bah humbug Christmas tree decoration.
