How to achieve a successful installation
Correct installation is essential for the success of your roof window project. Therefore, we have made every effort to help you by creating easy-to-use installation guides.
Tools & materials required
There are several types of roof window, each with individually tailored installation guides. Choose from the following:
Centre pivot hung
Classic centre-pivot roof window with the unique top control bar for easy operation. Suitable for a pitched roof of 15-90 degrees. Window sash can be rotated 180 degrees for easy cleaning.
The window opens from the bottom outwards for an unobstructed view and feeling of extra space. For loft conversions with windows in easy reach. Suitable for roof pitches of 15-55 degrees and 55-75 degrees with special springs.
Electric/ Solar pivot hung
Electric and Solar powered roof windows are ideal for out-of-reach situations. They come with a fully programmable remote which uses secure radio frequency to operate individual or groups of roof windows, blinds and roller shutters from anywhere in the building.
There are two main types of sun tunnel; flexible and rigid.
Flexible tunnels can be installed at a distance between 0.4m and 2m measured in the centre line of the tunnel from the top edge of the batten to the ceiling finish level.
Rigid tunnels can be installed at a distance between 1.45m and 1.85m measured in the centre line of the tunnel from the top edge of the batten to the ceiling finish level. At distances from 1.85m up to 6m, the rigid tunnel must be lengthened by VELUX Sun tunnel rigid extension.
