Stormsaver Rainwater Harvesting Systems
What is rainwater harvesting?
With the prospect of annual water bills rising past the rate of inflation over the next 5 years, there’s even more pressure on those already struggling, to stretch their income to cover household bills.
Rainwater is a renewable energy that can be collected from roofs whenever it rains and stored to use later as a free resource. The most common and simple way to collect rain is by connecting your guttering downpipe to a water butt which you can then dispense into a watering can.
Reusing harvested rainwater instead of the mains water supply can reduce your water bills considerably and can also help the environment by reducing the demand for mains water.
Benefits of using StormSaver
Our StormSaver Rainwater Harvesting systems recycle rainwater on a much larger scale. The large underground tanks can store up to 5000 litres of collected rainwater, which is then filtered and pumped to feed not only your garden irrigation but also into all the non-potable uses inside your house such as toilets and washing machines.
In addition, StormSaver can form part of a Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) for new build or retrofit developments and can contribute to surface water management and reducing flood risk.
✔ Shallow dig tank is robust and comes with all necessary components pre-fitted
✔ Clever suction technology uses over 75% less energy than other Rainwater Harvesting systems
✔ No loss in flow rate - pumps 10 litres per minute (same as mains pressure)
✔ Low noise levels in the pump
✔ Compact control unit easily fits into a kitchen cupboard
✔ Back up DC power supply enables the control panel to connect to solar or battery power. This means the water supply is maintained if the system power fails
✔ Ideal for new build properties and homes with up to 6 bedrooms
StormSaver Rainwater Harvesting - System Components
Choose from 3 different sized tanks (1500ltr, 3000ltr or 5000ltr), and with that comes a Control panel, 235mm turret and lid, 20m of suction hose and Boosted floating suction filter kit.
THE UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK
The Polyethylene tank is situated below ground and should be fitted at a maximum of 40 metres away from the house.
● Durable and economical
● Designed for shallow dig excavations avoiding the cost of deeper excavation
● No concrete backfill required, reducing cost and environmental impact
● Easily manoeuvred by two persons
● Pre-installed integral leaf filter, back pressure flap and inlet calmer
● Access for maintenance is easier than other tanks due to shallow install
● 25 year guarantee

^^Weight stated is without integral leaf filter and inlet calmer. Add 5kg for tanks which included these items.
THE CONTROL PANEL
The compact, low energy control panel provides homeowners with an automatic supply of filtered rainwater that switches to main water supply should the tank run empty during periods of high usage.
● Optimised for consumption points such as toilets, washing machines, garden tap etc.
● Low noise level in operation with only 48dba
● Ready to start without pump priming
● Dry run protection
● Display has manual/auto switch for supply and LED indication for rainwater, potable water and storage tank low level
● 90 watt suction pump - can be connected to solar, wind or mains power supply
● Motor drive 3 part valve, not a solenoid
● WRAS compliant airbreak
● WRAS approved StormSaver float valve
● 40mm overflow included
● The automatic mains water top up goes into a small header tank situated within the control panel rather than the tank underground. This makes leaks easily detectable.
Control panel technical details:
Dimensions: 398mm x 353mm x 200mm. Weight: 8kg. Power supply in: 110-230V/50-60 Hz. Power out: 24V DC/4A. Power consumption: Max 90W. Max pump pressure: 2,5-3,5 bar. Max flow: 10L/min. Primary pressure: 2,5-4 bar (mains). Pump start pressure: 1,8-2,5 bar. Noise Level: 48dba
THE BOOSTED FLOATING SUCTION FILTER KIT AND FLEXIBLE SUCTION HOSE
½” Boosted Floating Suction Filter Kit.
To be fitted in the main storage tank providing filtered water prior to entering the control panel.
½” Flexible Suction Hose 20m.
Connects the boosted floating suction filter kit to the control panel. The hose must be a continuous length without breaks from the tank to the control panel to ensure correct suction is maintained.
StormSaver has been developed in accordance with BS8515:2009 for Rainwater Harvesting and the Water Regulations Advisory Service (WRAS) Guidelines.
The code for sustainable homes
The Code for Sustainable homes will see the biggest impact on current and future requirements for rainwater harvesting. The code uses a 1 to 6 star rating system (1= least sustainable and 6 = most sustainable) and sets minimum standards for energy and water use for each level, with the StormSaver helping you to achieve levels 4 onwards.
