Product information

Characteristics Cordyline 'Australis', commonly known as the Cabbage Palm Tree, is a striking evergreen plant that features a rosette of long, arching leaves that can create a dramatic focal point in any garden or landscape. The leaves are typically narrow and sword-like, giving the plant a tropical appearance. This species is known for its robust trunk, which can develop a thick, sturdy base as it matures, providing stability and a sense of permanence in the garden. The overall growth habit of the Cabbage Palm is upright, making it an excellent choice for adding height and structure to outdoor spaces. Uses The Cabbage Palm Tree is versatile and can be used in various landscaping applications. It is often planted as a specimen tree in gardens, where its unique form and lush foliage can be appreciated up close. Additionally, it works well in tropical or subtropical themed gardens, providing an exotic touch. The tree can also be used in urban settings, as it is relatively tolerant of pollution and can thrive in a range of soil types. Furthermore, its leaves can be used in floral arrangements, adding a tropical flair to indoor decor. Care Caring for Cordyline 'Australis' is relatively straightforward, making it suitable for both novice and experienced gardeners. It prefers well-drained soil and should be watered regularly, especially during dry spells, to ensure healthy growth. While it can tolerate a range of light conditions, it thrives best in full sun to partial shade. In the UK, it is important to protect the plant from harsh winter conditions, as it can be sensitive to frost. Providing a mulch layer around the base can help retain moisture and protect the roots during colder months.
