(x4) Scottish Heather Calluna Vulgaris 'Dark Beauty' Evergreen Garden Shrubs (9cm Pots)

Product information

Characteristics Scottish Heather Calluna Vulgaris 'Dark Beauty' is a compact evergreen shrub known for its dense foliage and bushy appearance. The plant features small, needle-like leaves that create a lush, textured look, making it an attractive addition to gardens and landscapes. Its growth habit is low and spreading, which allows it to fill in spaces effectively and create a natural ground cover. This variety is particularly valued for its resilience and ability to thrive in various soil types, often preferring acidic conditions. Uses Scottish Heather is commonly used in garden design for its ornamental value and versatility. It is ideal for rock gardens, borders, and as a ground cover due to its low-growing nature. Additionally, it can be used in container gardening, providing a splash of greenery and texture. Beyond aesthetics, this plant is also beneficial for wildlife, as it attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, contributing to biodiversity in the garden. Its hardiness makes it suitable for various landscaping projects, including coastal gardens where other plants may struggle. Care Caring for Scottish Heather Calluna Vulgaris 'Dark Beauty' involves ensuring it is planted in well-drained, acidic soil to promote healthy growth. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells, but care should be taken to avoid waterlogging. Pruning is recommended after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage new growth. This variety is relatively low maintenance, but it benefits from a light application of fertiliser in spring to support its development. Mulching can also help retain moisture and suppress weeds, making it easier to care for.
