This is a great value for money product.
When it arrives it is quite daunting as there are many parts to sort through, but once I got all of the logs in order the building went up quite quickly. Luckily we had great weather over the weekend so it was very pleasurable to assemble with a friend. It took us two full days to assemble. We did have a few parts that were damaged on arrival, but from calling the shire helpline I was pleasantly informed that I had spare logs, so we could carry on with the build. It look s great - better than expected.

Very disappointing

This is a very difficult review to write, because the B&Q part of the transaction worked extremely well. The problems were with the quality of the product that we received. So the two stars that I have given this review are for B&Q and none for Shires. All the issues were with Shires who make this product. The delivery was absolutely on time but was made with a truck with a crane that was "not working" so the whole thing was unloaded onto the tarmac plank by plank.

When we started to look at the pieces that we had received it was obvious that the cutting was predominantly substandard and some of the parts were warped. An email with pictures to Shires got the response that it was normal. It plainly was not normal because about 35% of the parts were cut cleanly, so it seemed to me that it was a quality control issue. My wife placed a comment on the B&Q Facebook page and within minutes was asked to contact Customer Services by email which we did and have nothing but praise for that department.

By this time we had looked at the remaining pieces - the larger planks - and we found ones that had obviously been crushed, some that were already starting to split, a 1" knothole that had taken the associated tongue away with it, some parts with portions of the tongue missing or broken off and even some where both sides of the groove had been broken away. These were as well as most of them having the substandard splintering cutting.

Even B&Q Customer Services could get nothing from Shires other than that they were not prepared to do anything. I never even got the opportunity to ask for anything from them - all the communications from me were just showing them the issues.

B&Q organised for the wood to be collected and a full refund given.

All in all a very disappointing experience only saved by the help and efficiency of the B&Q Customer Services Department
