As with other reviews we bought the worktop as it matched our dark floor beautifully. When the joiner cut and joined the wood he had to sand the joins down, because the wood was slightly warped and wouldn't sit flush, which took the original dark stain off. This meant we had a patch of light oak in the middle of 2 long dark counter tops.
I went back to B&Q to ask for the correct stain to fix it and was given the run around for 3 weeks (try the showroom staff, try the paint desk, try calling B&Q call centre) until someone finally pointed out the stain gel we needed. That was delivery only so took 2 weeks for 2 small tubes to be delivered.
Since then we have stained the light wood but when you "wipe off the excess" as per the instructions, the stain comes with it leaving the light oak once more and a horrible line where the original colour starts. So we sanded the whole surface and stained it 4 times. It finally looked great. Matched the other counters and looked even.....until we put the protective oil on it which drew most of the stain out of the wood. We now have a mid-tone counter top that has been sanded a lot and now sealed with oil making it impossible to stain again.
This has been my life for 3 months and what we ended up with is a counter top that doesn't match our floor as hoped. Yes the wood looks lovely when you get it but unless you can install it without having to sand it, you won't end up with the product they sold you.

Fell in love with this worktop in the store but sadly the quality of it is disastrous

I initially fell in love with this as it matched my floor colour perfectly, unfortunately that didn't last long, it needed sanding as it was quite rough leaving paper style cuts to the palm of my hands, it wasn't a perfect square cut as it had a slight bevel edge which needed to be trimmed for a perfect butt edge when joining 2 pieces together, that then presented an issue as you needed to sand it down which removed the colour and it was impossible to get an oil to match, so we ended up having to sand it all taking off the stain, so now i am left with a worktop that doesn't match my floor and it will need re-staining/oiling. As yet my concerns have not been addressed by the manager of the store so I advise anyone thinking of buying this to think carefully before doing so
