Help & Advice

BTU Radiator Calculator

Our BTU (British Thermal Units) calculator will help you to work out the heat requirement for your room, and recommend the number of radiators you will need to comfortably heat it.

What is a BTU?

A British Thermal Unit (BTU) is a measure of heat output from a radiator. Depending on the size of your room, the number and type of windows and what the room is used for, you'll need more or less heat. If you have a higher BTU requirement, it might be better to use more than one radiator to deliver the heat you'll need to a room. The total BTU output of several smaller radiators may meet your needs.

How do I choose the right radiator?

The BTU value of all our radiators is clearly labelled in-store and online, helping you find those which suit your requirements.

Step 1: Which room you are heating?
Step 2: What are the dimensions of the rooms?
Are you measuring in metres or feet?:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Replacing all radiators in our Victorian home with these, they are really fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely efficient I purchased the Acova 4 Column radiator in the 820 cm and 1200 cm sizes and am delighted with both. They are good looking and extremely efficient. I thought I might have to use legs for the larger radiator but the wall brackets that are supplied with the radiators have proved sufficient. I am delighted with my purchases.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price, great service. The radiator arrived next day as promised, unfortunately we ordered the wrong size. B&Q were very helpful and credited the incorrect model and arranged for collection We ordered the correct one which arrived next day and the collection was the following day. What more could you ask for? Great price, great service!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value and performance Classic looks and modern standards made this a great buy for us but I guess this would be at home as much in a modern apartment as it is in our Victorian house. Easy to install even for an everyday guy like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy elsewhere.... Another comany, beginning with S and ending with fix, for example have this for a fraction of the price. So look around first. Enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Acova 4 column radiators Just had these type of radiators installed in the large rooms of my victorian house. They look fantastic and the heat they give off are great. Would recommend that you buy the feet that are sold separately as they are very heavy. Would recommend this product to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Stuff Excellent product, well finished and good heat output. Gave the desired effect in the victorian setting of a grade II listed building.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for smaller rad Radiator bought to replace a smaller version of same which was inadequate for the room size. Heavy to fit of course because of the construction. Special offer at the time so reasonable price. Nicely finished in white enamel. Slight leak from input fittings at first, needs lots of heavy duty PTFE tape to ensure water tightness. The advantage of this sort of radiator is that although they take a longer time to heat up, when the system switches off they also produce useful heat for a much longer period afterwards. Seems to have been imported, would have been good to have seen a British made product.
