Does the job
Basic A/C functions with manual only louvers, But this is reflected in the price, Cools well and does the job. Not the quietest but no A/C is. Perfect for say a living/dining room.

Really loud and not that good
This unit is stupidly loud. I couldn't use it at night for two reasons: 1, I wouldn't be able to sleep because of the noise 2, Neither would my neighbours The window adaptor only works with sliding windows (which literally nobody in the UK has). The condensation reservoir is ridiculously small, and needed emptying after less than an hour of use in a not-that-humid house, it's also a pain to empty as it doesn't have a removable tank / tray.

Useless
I had the air conditioner running in our lounge for an hour and it made 2 degrees of difference. I'd have been better opening the window. Useless.

Cool Breeze in a Compact Package
This Arlec 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is a real game-changer. It may be small, but it cools down my bedroom like a breeze. Saving energy is easy with the timer. The controls are simple and you even get a remote for lazy days. Oh, and it's quiet too, so no annoying buzz.
