Used a few times,no problems. the bad reviews come from people who don’t know what there doing. A bad workman will always blame his tools
Very sturdy - paintable

Bought this recently to install a pergola onto an existing deck. Perfect for the 100mm x 100mm posts I had bought. The bolts on the side nipped the posts up really well - there's no movement. There are actually 8 fixing points/screw holes in the base (4 outside the holder and 4 within) which helps achieve a really strong fix.
These bases can be painted with normal deck paint too so great for blending in.
Two things to watch for. Make sure you position the holder in such a way that you can reach both the nut and bolt head for tightening. Also, once the bolts are tightened the flanges grip the post by digging in. If you want to take the post out after tightening you would need to jemmy the flanges back out of the way.

Why are b and q still selling this rubbish. Very flimsy and was twisted so post did not sit right.
Strong & well made.

I drilled the concrete base and used resin to anchor studding to clamp down the support. The posts I had did not exactly fit, but I cut and tapped in packing pieces, and then tightened the clamp bolts. Made a good solid job.
Poor design, don't buy

No instructions as to how to use properly. Tool station in B&Q told me to attach using a 30mm concrete bolt which I would say is much too short. Claims it is designed for a 100mm fence post but it doesn't fit one. Once you have shaved some wood off and managed to fit the post in, the 2 screws to tighten it will not fit in because the post is in the way.
