Features and Benefits

At B&Q we want you to be satisfied with your colour selection. Not all monitors will display colours the same and paint tins may not show the same colour as your walls do in natural light. We therefore recommend you order a tester pot online or pop in store to pick one up so you are sure that this is the right colour for you.

  • Great coverage in just one coat, saving you time and money
  • We recommend using a one coat roller for optimal application
  • For best results follow the instructions on the tin carefully, a second coat may be required if overpainting a darker colour with a lighter top coat
  • Control air pollutants by choosing products with lower solvent levels.
  • Great coverage in just one coat, saving you time and money

Questions to ask before you begin

Which room in the house are you painting?

What goes on in the room you are planning to paint? Maybe you are painting a kitchen or bathroom that would benefit from a moisture-resistant paint. Some rooms might need an extra hard-wearing paint which can be wiped down and cleaned such as hallways, landings or kid’s bedrooms. Finding the right paint isn’t just about which colour you pick. We have different types of paint designed for use in different rooms. By choosing the paint that is specially designed for the type of room you are painting, you will get the best end result.

What type of surface are you painting?

There are different types of paint for different surface materials. As well as a comprehensive selection of emulsion paints for walls and ceilings, we have a wide range of specialist paint including ones that are designed for wood furniture, brick walls, and tiles. Choosing the right paint for the right material will ensure a longer-lasting result and the best coverage.

What kind of look are you going for?

Maybe your home has quite a traditional look and would suit a subtle, matt effect paint. Or perhaps you have a more contemporary style that would look great with a satin or metallic finish paint. When selecting paint, think about what you want the final look to be, so that you can choose the correct finish as well as the right colour.

Office space with different paints on the wall

How much time do you have to complete your decorating project?

If you need to get your painting job done quickly, we have a wide range of quick-drying options that will help you get a whole room decorated in a few hours. We have quick dry wall paint, primers, and wood and metal paint to help you make the most of your time whatever you are painting.

What state is the surface in?

Some of our interior paints can be applied directly to the surface. Others may require a bit of preparation before you can begin painting. Perhaps you are painting a freshly plastered surface or previously untreated wood, or maybe you need to fill in some holes or sand down an uneven surface. We have paints and primers for all sorts of surfaces that will help you achieve a nice, even finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says!! We bought this to paint our hallway as we wanted something hard wearing that we could wipe down when our muddy dogs come in. The paint is a lovely colour and wipes down perfectly. I'm even sure that it repels some of the mud!! Cheaper than the premium brands too. No complaints from me!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great finish I thought that this was a close match to magnolia for a cheap one coat alternative...it isn't....far more orange than the colour tab appears on the container, but a pleasant colour and a great finish. It was patchy with just one coat but looked solid with two coats. Lovely texture to paint with...better with a foam roller than the material alternative. It didn't cover the area I was expecting it to but I think it is value for money and will definitely buy again and recommend it to others.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from One coat? Try three and still not looking great The surface may be durable when it's dry but this paint is see-through. I bought two pots with the intention of doing the hall and bathroom, three coats later over a very light olive green in just the hall I'm trying to decide whether I need to go get another pot or just live with the patches. I still need to edge for a third time. If I didn't have other things to do with my life I would consider going to court or at least trading standards, this should not have 'one coat' anywhere in its name or description

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disastrous - will never buy again We found this paint quite unworkable as a one-coat, and barely usable as a thin multi-coat. It won't stick properly to a prepared wall but if you go back over a bit - or overlap brushwork with roller work - the paint pulls itself off the wall. Our one-coat efforts left drips and runs beside the bare patches. Unwisely we left it to dry. The only solution was to sand it down and use a different brand of paint on top. We then discovered its one redeeming feature - it is very tough indeed when you try to sand it! Choosing this paint has been a very stressful and time-consuming mistake. I should have read the reviews - after 30 years of decorating I had not realized such an appallingly useless paint could make it to the shelves in a competitive market.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not one coat! Didn't notice this was supposed to be one coat paint when I chose the colour, as I wouldn't have brought it. I didn't expect it to cover with the first coat, but even after the third coat it is patchy. I have had to paint the wall with white paint first then put two coats of the cream. It does not go onto the wall very well and I end up taking most of it back off! I'm committed to finishing the project with this colour now and it isn't cheap at nearly £20 for 2.5 litres and I'm now onto my third tin. Big mistake should have brought Dulux or Crown. Won't be buying B&Q own brand again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality paint After discovering that the B&Q Kitchens & Bathrooms paint range that we have previously used was no longer available, we were persuaded to buy this product instead. Big mistake! The paint would not stick to the prepared walls & looked like it had been done by a child. We returned it for a full refund & bought Dulux instead. We have always used B&Q paint so we were very disappointed that this particular product was so substandard.
