Product Information

This Pure brilliant white gloss wood & metal paint has been specially designed to give a durable and long-lasting finish on a range of surfaces. Features and Benefits

At B&Q we want you to be satisfied with your colour selection. Not all monitors will display colours the same and paint tins may not show the same colour as your walls do in natural light. We therefore recommend you order a tester pot online or pop in store to pick one up so you are sure that this is the right colour for you.

Questions to ask before you begin

Which room in the house are you painting?

What goes on in the room you are planning to paint? Maybe you are painting a kitchen or bathroom that would benefit from a moisture-resistant paint. Some rooms might need an extra hard-wearing paint which can be wiped down and cleaned such as hallways, landings or kid’s bedrooms. Finding the right paint isn’t just about which colour you pick. We have different types of paint designed for use in different rooms. By choosing the paint that is specially designed for the type of room you are painting, you will get the best end result.

What type of surface are you painting?

There are different types of paint for different surface materials. As well as a comprehensive selection of emulsion paints for walls and ceilings, we have a wide range of specialist paint including ones that are designed for wood furniture, brick walls, and tiles. Choosing the right paint for the right material will ensure a longer-lasting result and the best coverage.

What kind of look are you going for?

Maybe your home has quite a traditional look and would suit a subtle, matt effect paint. Or perhaps you have a more contemporary style that would look great with a satin or metallic finish paint. When selecting paint, think about what you want the final look to be, so that you can choose the correct finish as well as the right colour.

How much time do you have to complete your decorating project?

If you need to get your painting job done quickly, we have a wide range of quick-drying options that will help you get a whole room decorated in a few hours. We have quick dry wall paint, primers, and wood and metal paint to help you make the most of your time whatever you are painting.

What state is the surface in?

Some of our interior paints can be applied directly to the surface. Others may require a bit of preparation before you can begin painting. Perhaps you are painting a freshly plastered surface or previously untreated wood, or maybe you need to fill in some holes or sand down an uneven surface. We have paints and primers for all sorts of surfaces that will help you achieve a nice, even finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More coats, but it's worth the result I read a couple of reviews on this giving it 1 star because of poor coverage, but it's not poor coverage - the paint is thin, but it gets you the quality those "one coat" brands do not. I used this on my banister struts five years ago and they are still white. So much so that I'm using a new batch of this to paint all my skirts and doors near the banister (which have yellowed due to the "non-yellowing" one coat rubbish). So yes, you need a couple of coats to make it stand out, but I've found the extra effort is worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Colours Professional Finish Gloss - pretty good Bought this 'Professional finish Gloss paint' after trying various big brands of water based non yellowing, quick dry glosses. Have been very dubious about the finish and previously being very dissatisfied with the results of this more environmentally friendly paint but I can say this has been the best so far. It definitely took 2 coats but it gives a good gloss and flowed fairly well where other makes showed annoying brush strokes e.g on a windowsill. I have done a lot of painting over the years and it cannot quite match the finish of traditional gloss paint but I will use this again as I like the non yellowing properties of this type of paint and so far the B & Q Professional Finish is superior, of the water based ones I've tried.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good priced, low of our, quick drying gloss I bought this to regloss my skirting boards before family came to stay and I'm not disappointed. Yeah, its not the thickest of glosses, but the coverage was good as was the low odour. My guests couldn't even smell I'd been painting. Also I must point out this was easy to wipe up and clean after getting some on the rug accidently.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor coverage Very runny & poor coverage. Will not be buying this again

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Impressed Thought I would give this a try as have not been to happy with the big brand names of late. Easy application but the coverage is rather poor. 3 coats needed on new and primed wood. The Finish is anything but gloss more like satinwood. As for non yellowing time will only tell. For the price not the best value.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from just terrible This is the worst 'gloss' paint I have ever used. Firstly the finish is NOT GLOSS as you would expect, after using other brands in the past. This is a dull satin finish. Also certainly not 'professional finish' like the tin claims. Unless they are referring to a professional bodger. Not only have I wasted my time and money, but now i need to sand and prepare everything again, and spend more money on more paint...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Buy Worst gloss paint I have ever tried. I bought it for a quick job on a small window seal in a clock room. Terrible coat, too thin and even after 3 coats I'm sanding it back and buying some high end gloss which I should have done in the first place!
