exasparated - 3 years ago
bought with a cooke and lewis basin and 2 drawer unit, left my plumber fitting it, got home from work,,,,,, spout it far too short and water falls on the back of the basin and i cant put my hands under the water as i hit the tap upright. emailed b and q 3 times ...no help at all. told me to choose any tap to go with my basin.

Worked Ok for about 9 months. Now on/off (moving up/down) has become so stiff to move it needs replacing. Dont waste your money with this one!
Excellent value half price

This tap has a short spout and water drops vertically so the sink has to be the right shape, this was perfect for my use and was excellent value. Easy to fit with the correct deep socket spanner as with all taps of this design. Plumbing connections are of the flexible braided type which will connect to a half inch BPS male fitting.
Poorly Designed Securing
Replaced - 3 years ago
Overall the tap looks like the bis but only when you come to fit do you find out why its getting poor reviews. The hoses supplied with it are short, so if replacing an existing unit check the lengths you need first. The major thing that lets this down ( bearing in mind I didn't use the pop up waste as I use the exsiting one I have) is the securing to the basin. As the tap is held in place by friction through a foam & plastic base plate onto the basin top, and a foam & metal washer single/ clamp nut configuration underneath the basin. It was difficult to identify this design flaw at the B&Q showroom displays as thay were all secured ( clamped onto wooden displays) In order to impose enough torque to clamp the tap to the ceramic basin, and stop it moving in operation, it cracked the chrome plated plastic base plate. The Crosswater tap this was replacing has a chrome plated "solid brass" base plate allowing sufficent torque to fix the tap in place without cracking. Unfortunatly the CW base plate was has a smaller centralising ring ( as the body of the CW has a thicker pedestal wall thickness) so I was unable switch this out.
no great features not happy !

the nozzle is far too short and the water when turned on hits the side of basin ! no room to put your hand under the tap when water is on therefore the water is all over the top of the basin ! The tap has been fitted so I cant return it . not happy .
