I've rated the product as good because it has covered the decking well but I am disappointed in the colour. The example on the tin looks fairly dark which is what I was after, unfortunately it has turned out to more of what I would call 'battleship grey'. Pity that there are no tester pots available.

Looks greatg

I can't understand the poor reviews. I used it on new decking about a year ago and have had no problems at all. I am currently applying another coat just to freshen it up. My decking look so really smart.

Terrible!

I really wish i had read the reviews here before buying this product, Not even a month after applying the decking there are patches flaking off everywhere. I might understand it if the preparation hadn't been extremely thorough or the boards had been damp but that's not the cae. Just to make things more frustrating the urban slate which i require to do the repaint seems to be out of stock in every B & Q. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Looked great for a few months!

I used this product last summer on my decking. It required a lot of paint to get a good coverage but this would have been fine if it had lasted. I really liked the colour and got a lot of compliments on how good it looked. Part way through the winter there were noticeable patches where the paint had started to flake off and now that it is nearly spring there are quite a lot of patches. It needs a clean but if I scrub it I expect a lot more to come off. Now I am not sure what to use. Paying this much money for it to only last a maximum of 1 year is not really acceptable.

Decking a lot better and safer than before

I bought this to do a large bit of decking at the side of my house that we use a lot as access to the garden, washing line, shed etc is over the decking. I had not treated my decking with anything for several years and some the boards had started to rot in places. I replaced some of the boards leaving me with what looked like a patchwork quilt. I wanted something to even out the look of the decking and when I saw that this was anti slip too (My decking was very slippy in the wet) I decided to give it a go. I read the instructions carefully and thoroughly cleaned my decking to remove any algae and dirt. I used a stiff brush with a soap and bleach mixture.
I purchased a couple of tins of City Stone (disappointed I couldn't get one large tin) and applied it to my decking.
I thought is looked more like a paint than a stain when I opened the tins and I used a roller on the end of an extension pole to apply it in March 2016. I thought it looked good but I needed 2 coats to provide an even colour to my deck. It didn't go as far as I thought it would and I had to purchase another 2 tins. My decking is about 11ft wide by 30ft long. When I finished though I thought it looked great and I still do (November 2016). The deck is not slippy at all even in the wet and the covering has held up very well in all areas apart from just at my side door onto the decking which sees a lot of use. It has worn away and it patchy but I will leave it and recover this area next year. The rest of the decking that gets occasional use is still perfect.
On the down side I found this product more like paint in that it doesn't seem to soak in like I would expect a stain to. Also I think it is very expensive and has worn on the heavy use areas.
Having said that it has stopped me slipping on the decking and covered the repairs very well. I fully expected to have to renew this every year but one coat will do now except the heavy use areas which I will coat twice.
Overall I am very pleased. I think I'll wait until I see it on offer before I buy though.
