Marker provided does not wipe off white board

Bought this today, installed ok. Then wrote "test" with the provided marker on the new surface. Now, I cannot get the writing to come off! I tried with a dry cloth, then a wet one , then a soapy one...

I was upcycling a pine TV unit and didn't want to paint the shelves etc., so bought this to do the job instead. Excellent value and was easy to apply to both shelves and sides of cabinet and saved all that painting. The finished item looks great!
