Instructions aren't simple - but not rocket science! Key to open box inside - as other posters have explained, skewers inside stick the bait on and secure inside. bar to stop HEDGEHOGS getting at the bait - if the rat wants to take the bait back to its nest - GREAT!

Rats are NEOPHOBIC - they don't like change - it WILL take them up to a week or more to take the bait. Place the box with the holes closes to the wall is because rats stick close to the wall! It sound daft - but they will walk up to the box look at it and walk around it for the first few days even though there appears to be a tunnel running though it. eventually they will venture in - and after that they will find the bait.

What is important is that you secure the box so it can't be disturbed by pets / kids. I place a paving slab over the top.

Check boxes weekly - otherwise leave them alone - the rats will sense that a human has been near it and will avoid again for a while.

Seemingly ineffective

I bought this on Saturday and writing this the following Tuesday. As mentioned in most other comments the instructions are non-existent (even on their website!). As a result I didn't know what the skewers were for and assumed it was just a tool to pick up dead rodents with. I was soon disabused of that notion as after two nights of feeding in the station the rat decided to take the remaining bait back to its nest. And the product claims it "kills in a single dose"! What a waste of money.

Break the 3 spikes off of the plastic. The two spikes sit upright in the holes in the rear compartment and add a block of poison to each WITH the plastic still on. For the third plastic bar, that sits long ways across the entrance to that section to prevent the rat dragging the bait away. Online videos also show placing the unit with the holes towards the fence/wall etc with hinges towards you.

Really Works Well

I bought this about 5 weeks ago, set it up and within 2 weeks rats have gone. I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it. Also i like easy to shut lid, no messing with key it just snaps shut when pushed down. Thanks.

Great trap

Don’t be put off by the previous reviews, it’s not rocket science to set up
1. The key is inside the box along with bait
2. Remove skewers from moulding
3. Remove tray and you will see where the upright skewers sit the long skewer sits across the way by slotting it in to the grooves at the bottom and sits in the notches at the top
4. Attach bait
Jobs a good un
