TBH whoever can't manage to screw the plate on really needs to step away from the DIY and esp electrics. I can only surmise they've used a powered screwdriver on a high setting??
product is good but cover fixing screws are not

just purchased this box despite bad comments about securing screws. Yes they can be a little tight. after all they are self tapping screws. in the first instance do not put the lid on. Screw the first screw in a couple of gentle turns making sure it is going in straight. screw back a turn then screw down another couple of turns until you meet a resistance. again screw back a couple of turns.Get the idea, you are cutting a thread. The screw will get very hot in the process, which is why the screws are failing. take your time until the screw is completely in maybe pausing for a short time in between turns to allow the screw to cool.when the screw is completely down unscrew it until it is almost out. Apply a little vaseline to the threads and screw completely in. Repeat process for other 3 screws. now remove them all. put the lid on and you will find that the screws will fit perfectly. For the price this is a very nice outside box if all other instructions a followed carefully. I am a satisfied customer having no connection with the supplying company.
Product does what its suppose to

I bought this product along with 2x 20mm stuffing glands to seal the cables going to and from the box . Exactly what I needed for my outside lights
I Agree about the screws

I bought this box for an outside light project.
I wish I had read more reviews as the cover screws are of a poor quality and the head gets chewed easily. One reviewer advises opening out the holes a little...good advice.
Considering the screws are a vital part of the IP55 rating, I would have expected better.
I would consider this box for future projects taking note of advice elsewhere but the more expensive offerings from other manufacturers may well be worth the extra.
My project is now complete and I will be keeping an eye on it.
