Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Bought it to fix on ground floor and landing. Great purchase. Extremely easy to fix. Good looks. Does not spoil interior decor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 10 year battery life! Simple unit, easy to fix. Unfortunately, the battery life of 10 years was compromised because all the units are activated on leaving the factory, hence this was activated in 2012, which means nearly half the battery life has already gone. This was not 'easily visible' when purchasing...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from one very displeased customer Purchased these First Alert smoke detectors at Poole B&Q 4th April 2018. Opened packet when I arrived home to find the manufacture date 2012. Discard date 2022. Supposed to have a 10 year sealed in battery that can't be changed. The most I can get out of these two smoke detectors is therefore 4 years. What makes me even more displeased is that the previous review 2 years ago is expressing the same problem. Fire alarms can be a matter of life and death, it is therefore obviously very important that stock expiry dates are checked and the alarm will be as described. The purchase cost was refunded as expected without argument. The lesson I learned is that if you are buying from B&Q check your dates!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from rubbish lasted 2 years, looking for receipt so i can return

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea but will not last 10 years! A 10 year alarm is a good idea but not if the manufacture date is early 2013 which means that the life is actually about 7 and half years as the 10 years is up in 2023. The only problem is that the expiry date is not visible until you take the alarm out of the packaging. I would suggest that since the pack costs £27 , the price should go down by £2.70 for every year that the thing does not protect you.. but then defeats the purpose of a fit and forget alarm…returned to store.
