when I opened the packaging there was a large chip missing from a corner of the limestone surround. There was no debris inside the box, therefore it must have been packed damaged. There was also a large adhesive stain (palm sized) on the surround which was glaringly obvious. Again poor quality control. I hope they paid more attention to the actual construction of the fire. When arranging uplift of the damaged fire, after weeks trying to get a replacement, I was told by an FP agent that an 'all day' collection was being arranged. I told him this was not suitable as I had already taken two days off work. He then told me it would be pre 9.00 o'clock. Nobody came before 9.00, or indeed any other time that day, as my wife happened to be at home all that day. When I advised B & Q of the issue I was advised they do not do 'timed' collections. therefore I had been lied to by the FP agent. Three weeks later I'm still waiting for a call from FP to arrange the collection.

I understand the safety reasons but it has a spherical metal ball you have to grip to turn & then often the automatic lighting will not "catch" Looks GREAT , but ours either needs mending or skipping - which will mean redecoration. JUST out of warranty of course!

We have the smaller version of this fireplace. It's a great fire when you can actually get it lit. Agree with a previous poster about the knack to lighting it... you have to wait for the pilot light to turn red, or simply just keep it pushed in for a bit until the rest of the flame area warms up. However, our problem s sometimes the pilot light doesn't light. I'd say this happens 50 % of the time. Sometimes it goes on the first try, the other 50% it just doesn't light at all. We called about getting it fixed/replaced and the manufacturer wasn't very helpful. We couldn't find our BQ receipt for the 1 year warranty to replace the part at no cost. Overall, pretty disappointing.

I have owned this fire for almost 3 years. It looks great and it gives out surprising amount of heat.

There is a knack to lighting the fire. You need to hold the ignition knob until you see the metal igniter heat up to a red glow before releaseing the knob. Have had to make a couple of attempts to light the fire at times, but it's only seconds of inconveniece. It's not a big deal. No more troublesome than other fires I have used in the past.
