I read the reviews (particularly the negative ones) before buying three of these. I decided to but them after viewing them in store. Must admit I was expecting a difficult build but nothing could be more simple - I can only presume that the people who had difficulty building these shelves had never played with lego. They fit together very easily and the chipboard shelves fit perfectly if you attach the cross braces properly as instructed. I don't understand how people managed to cut themselves either!! I did them on my own (would be better with two of you) and it took me about 25mins to build.

Good strong shelving

I bought two of these units a week ago and was able to assemble both units on my own quite quickly. I am delighted at how strong they are. They are considerably stronger than a similar unit sold at one of the continental supermarket chains. The units slot together easily with strong double metallic pegs fitting into double locking slots on the uprights. The jointing plates extend the uprights to full height are well made and strong and fit well. You will need a wooden mallet to ensure a good firm fit with the unitsbut the chipboard shelves themselves are cut exactly to size.

Good strong shelves.

Bought two of these shelving racks for use in my garage, really easy to assemble on my own, once fully assembled the racks are sturdy and can accommodate a decent amount of weight. Only criticism would be that the wooden inserts are a tad too big and it’s difficult the get to sit fully and squarely within the recess in the metal frame.

Fiddly to set up and shelves aren't durable enough

I bought three shelving units for my garage and was initially very pleased with them - apart from them being a bit of a faff to set up.

As others have mentioned the chipboard shelves are slightly too big so they are difficult to seat securely in the metal frame of the shelf. To be fair, this fiddly set up only has to be completed once. My main gripe with these is that after a few months the chip board has begun to deteriorate.

My garage isn't overly damp inside (in fact it has been heated throughout much of the winter as I use it as a workshop) however the shelves have begun to sag as moisture from the air has softened the chip board. I think that ultimately chip board was a poor choice of material for the shelves.

Knowing what I know now I would have either gone for plastic or all metal construction.

Difficult single handed

I have a metal storage before but this was a nightmare to put the joints on the legs singlehanded. I almost decided not to bother and take it back. Not recommended there are better options available
