Very Poor soft closers
BillW0702 - 2 months ago
I have wasted hours trying to fit soft closers to these doors. Diagrams are useless, just stupid pictures that mean nothing
Extremely poor instructions
geoff60 - 1 year ago
This product is let down by some extremely poor diagrammatic instructions. Many wasted hours spent trying to get one soft close runner to work - which to date is still not correct.
Don't fit Blizz Mirror doors
Andy 56 - 2 years ago
When ordering Blizz mirror doors these pop up as a "frequently bought together" item which made me think they must fit those doors however the packaging clearly states they're only suitable for Valla doors. That said, I desperately wanted soft closers because a 25kg (I bought 1800 x 2260) glass door bumping into the side frame makes quite a bang and I was worried about the long term robustness of the frame. To make them fit I used silicone sealant to glue a soft wood channel onto the top edge of the glass. The section was 20mmx 15mm section x 850mm long and with a groove for the glass to fit into. I had to increase the available height from 2260 to 2270 because the closers are slightly deeper than the standard rollers. The small anchor screw for the closer screws into the wooden strip. I'm not super confident about the robustness of this solution, but I've managed to get one door working last night. I'm going to do the next one tonight. I agree with other reviewers who say the robustness of the top guide channels is not adequate. You need the patience of a saint to set these up to work reliably. You also must have perfectly flat and level surfaces for both top and bottom guides to mount to. I would only recommend these to be fitted by very experienced DIY'er and /or a professional mechanical engineer (I am both, and I've got a fair bit of woodworking experience too). I don't think a professional joiner would tolerate the finicky set up work and precision modifications or the possible come backs which might result from the lack of robustness. Note that if you want a soft close at each end of the travel on both doors you need four closers and they come in packs of two.
No problems
fresh look - 2 years ago
Fitted the soft closers with no problems and seem to be working fine, instructions could be a little more detailed. thing to watch out , there are 2 lug like bits that fit on the top runners for the soft closer to engage into, they are both different so make sure they go on the right runner ie front and back. Other than that had no issues.
let down by poor instructions
bazlinds - 3 years ago
these took me ages to fit after hours wasted trying to work with the instructions, which are really poor, especially the diagrams. I am from a carpentry/ retail display/design background with over 40 years experience so I know my way around a flat pack box..... anyway, they are working for now, time will tell if they deserve up rating at a later date.
