Figured it out eventually. Once I got it working it worked a treat. It goes round very slowly but it does move. Little tip. Don't take the little orange screw out. It doesn't work properly without it.
Not fit for purpose

Poor quality rotates one way then stops, cheap plastic materials, come on Hozelock where have your standards gone! Returned for refund.
Waste of money

Absolutely rubbish tool. Doesn't work properly at all. Waste of money, time and water. Very disappointed!!!

Before this I was using the boring rotating bar sprinkler from Hozelock. I guess I have low water pressure (about 2bar I think) because the old one didn't cover very far (3m approx) and I would have to move it every 10 mins. I wanted something to cover a wider area that I could leave for 30mins at a time doing the lawn in 2 moves, not 4-5.
Well this did not disappoint. Even with my water pressure it easily reaches across my 5 meter lawn so now I can do the 5m x 15m lawn in 2-3 goes. In fact I have to dial it right down to get it just to stick to this distance.
My one complaint is that there are no instructions with it for the various settings. Even YouTube doesn't have any great tutorials on it. This type of springler seems to have all the same settings as any other manufacturer of this type, so I was able to figure it out with YouTube and trial'n'error.
Overall very happy with this sprinkler though.
Don't buy this sprinkler!!

Overpriced, poor design and poor quality. I've had 3 of these (two replacements) and ended up getting a Verve sprinkler (200% better). The bottom casting is paper thin and it is very easy to snap off the spike and hole the unit rendering it useless. The rotating ferrule is all plastic and the friction between the two rotating surfaces causes the sprinkler to stop rotating. I got mine working again with a spray of WD40, but it stopped rotating again after 30 minutes. The Verve unit is much more robust and has mostly metal parts, so less friction, plus it does a better job for less cost.
