The best position will be somewhere discrete perhaps in the corner of a room or behind a piece of furniture. Just be careful to ensure there is still space for the trap to tilt and close when the mouse enters. The trap works by allowing the mouse to enter one end in search of the bait and then tilting once the mouse is inside allowing the door to close behind it and trap it inside. The mouse can then be released at your own discretion by taking the cap off the other end of the trap. This means there is no need to ever come into physical contact with the rodent.
