Krud Kutter® Gloss Off is a spray on, wipe off formula that's specially designed to prepare high gloss and other hard-to-stick-to surfaces for repainting or refinishing.
- Ready to use
- Safety Information - Danger. May be corrosive to metals. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Read carefully and follow all instructions. Keep out of reach of children. If medical advice is needed, have product container or label at hand. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye or face protection. IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor. Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water. Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor. Store locked up. Dispose of contents and container in accordance with all local, regional, national and international regulations.
- Instructions for Use - Spray Krud Kutter® Gloss Off directly onto the surface, use a coarse, lint-free cloth/sponge and work the solution into the surface in a circular motion. Leave to work for a few minutes then wipe off with a clean cloth, turning the cloth often to avoid smears. When the clean, deglossed surface is dry to the touch (usually about 10 minutes), the new finish can be applied.

Works a treat!
Excellent 'quick fix' product for glaze busting existing coats of gloss and varnish. Provides excellent adhesion base for primer and finish coats without the need for the usual laborious sanding and subsequent cleaning and wipe down with spirit. Just work the product in with an abrasive pad and leave to dry, don't even need to wipe off before primer. Had to treat all skirting, doors and frames (14!) which were dark varnish and even the walls of entrance hall, stair well and landing which were magnolia gloss. Used 3 bottles over 2 days and saved a lifetime of prep.

Bought on a hope
I bought a house that every wall in the house had been painted with vinyl silk paint. I started the painful process of sanding a wall and wished there was any other way like everyone else does. I saw this and thought what the hell it might work. A literal couple of squirts and a minky abrasive cleaning pad had a 1 m2 area done in 5 seconds. It doesn’t change the appearance of the old paint (vinyl silk) to much so you need to work methodically to avoid missing or repeating parts. Painting over is now as easy as if it was matt finish. I found some silk emulsion to test it on and it melts that off the wall. The sponge picks up a lot of paint so you may need a couple of sponges if using on silk emulsion. This is a game changer. One bottle has covered all 3 bedrooms, the landing, staircase, hallway and the living/dinging room! The best bit is it took 1 1/2 hours to do all the rooms instead of the same time to sand 1 wall! This product needs some promotion and staff in decorating trained on its uses! When I asked if they had anything to help with painting over silk they said no.
