Mac Allister 18V 52cm Cordless Hedge trimmer

Very good when you first get it - works really well - but you are lucky to get a year out of it. Not sure why they sell it as rechargeable because it doesn’t recharge after a couple of occasions. B&Q should stop selling this item unless replacement batteries are available (you just can’t get them) and at a reasonable cost. Very disappointed.

Firstly let me start by saying that when it works its a good trimmer, however.......

First one lasted all of 2 uses before it stopped working. Replaced last year at the end of the cutting season

This year I have used it twice and now the charger has stopped working as in no lights.

Replacement chargers are as much as the trimmer.

Stupidly I appear to have lost the receipt. Probably the last Macalister product I will buy.

Buy cheap, buy twice!

This is a great little hedge trimmer. It is lightweight, easy to use and effective. However it needs to be viewed as a disposable throwaway item. The battery will last a couple of seasons and then that is it. Replacement batteries to fit MacAllister garden tools do not seem to be obtainable anywhere so the whole thing then has to be binned. Such a shame, as the tool itself is a lovely piece of kit.

Having researched the market for this product, I eventually decided that this trimmer ticked all the boxes. The price was very good bearing in mind that it will only be used for domestic use and I haven’t been disappointed .

had this for 2 years and it keeps going strong, I oil the blades every time.
