The Mountfield SP185 self-propelled lawn mower is powered by the 139cc Stiga ST140 Autochoke OHV engine. The large 60-litre grass collector comes with a bag full warning indicator so you can see when it needs emptying. With the mulching plug fitted there is no need to collect the grass as it recycles the clippings onto the lawn for a natural fertiliser.

No more pushing for me!!
I bought this as was struggling with a push mower, this is so much easier, lighter and means I can mow my lawn without needing a sit down every 10 mins!! The cutting and fill capacity is perfect - this has been an all round great buy!!

Owned for a few years, its been horrible
Owned for 3 years now, purchased going on the reviews, all the reviews must be Mountfield employees leaving reviews, but it’s pretty terrible. Falling apart, mine is now being held together with nuts and bolts i had laying around, oh yeah and the blade nearly came flying off after the first few times I used it as the blade hadn't been tightened correctly. You’d honestly be better using a pair of scissors to cut your garden, least it’d all be the same length. Just avoid. I'm on the market for a new one, after repairing this t*rd again today!

mountfield mowers are useless
I bought mower and expected it to last. 7 days and the drive packed up .. just 7 days so upgraded to the larger mountfield. This 1 lasted 45 minutes before drive broke. Now ordered hyundi

Good but has shelf life.
When these are brand new they are "brand new" - they tend to clap out, tho, usually around when the warranty expires, ie after about two years? I've gone through about four or five of these, my neighbour too, we keep buying them and then chucking them away and buying a new one. If you look after them, you might get three years out of it. But when they are new, they are magic. Yes, I could have spent more on a more expensive mower and saved money in the long run, but it's got to be the black and red Mountfield, hasn't it? Iconic.

Mountfield lawn mower
I bought this for the wife to cut the grass. It’s easily started and light enough for her to use. Bat mower we’ve had.

Great product
Bought this petrol mower as my old Flymo stopped flying, looked like a great price for a self propelled mower, Best thing I have bought in ages. Starts first time evert time, cuts perfectly. Never had stripes on my lawn before looks like a football pitch, shame it’s not as big. The only downside was I went back to B&Q a couple of days later and they had reduced the price by 15%, that will teach me to not be to eager.
