Using a 64mm hole drill bit through 18mm ply. 7 holes in, constantly smoking and eventually burnt out . Taking back to get a more expensive model.

Great product for little price

I bought this today, went for the cheapest drill because I'm an absolute beginner and thought I'll either damage it or give up on the job so wanted to minimise the loss. But to my surprise this drill is such heavy duty I managed to build my new decking using it
My advice: for drilling concrete and bricks you have to use decent masonry bits, keep an eye out for any sparks inside the drill they mean you are overdoing it or the bit is worn/not suitable.
For hard wood, first drill the wood a size smaller than the screw then drive the screw in. Otherwise either the bit or the screw head will be worn in no time. I know there are impact-resistant drill bits which are suitable for driving nails straight into wood and that'd be far quicker than drilling first.

Good for the price

Very powerful little drill for the price! Went through my mantle like butter and also comes with a very handy measuring stick.
