Avoid

The spindles themselves are are fine so no problems there.

However someone has decided that barcode labels should be stuck onto the wood, not the easy to peel with no glue residue type label but the come off in small bits leaving behind the glue type. This may have been excusable had they been stuck on the long end where it would have been cut off. Instead they were on the short end so I had to spend a LOT of time scratching, scrapping and then rubbing with alcohol to remove the glue. In my view that makes them substandard and defective, fine if you are happy with that kind of job. Personally I like thing to be done well, hence AVOID!

Major Doug - 11 months ago

I bought these for an unusual project. I wanted to use them for the spokes on a cartwheel. The wood was a reasonable quality. They came in a tied up bundle, but when untied probably about 6 of the 20 were were warped a bit. not too bad but for the task I needed straight ones (no one wants a wonky wheel). I managed to sort through and chose the best ones for the 8 spokes on each wheel. There were also a few knots but all seems strong and I even managed to put them on my own lathe and turn them and nothing broke.
I guess if I was using them for stairs they would be more than adequate.
