Very inconsistent colour and consistency

We painted 20 fence panels using this product and found enormous variations in colour ranging from a golden tinge to dull brown. The variations occur even within one tin from the beginning of the tin to the end. I know this suggests we didn't shake or stir but we definitely did, both shaking the tin before opening and constantly stirring while it was in the bucket, even to the extent we were having to stir between each brushstroke in an attempt to get consistency. It seemed that no matter how hard we tried, the product particles settled to the bottom of the bucket meaning towards the end of each bucket load we ended up with an almost sludge like consistency giving a duller darker colour. Unfortunately this is obviously not a product you can return to the shop once it's on the fence, and you can't get a return on hours of work. We used this product previously without this problem but can only assume it's changed. We won't use it again.
RICH AND ATTRACTIVE

My new shiplap shed needed a preservative in keeping with the guarantee. The original colour was golden which needed to be toned down. Chose the Ronseal Autumn Brown which provided a lovely rich chestnut colour. The first coat sank in very quickly and a second coat was applied the next day in fine weather to ensure a thorough coating. This is an excellent quality product which was easy to apply. I used the Ronseal 4" brush and simply rinsed out in hot soapy water after painting. Well, the shed looked so good that I then needed to paint the fence to match up the colour. Overall, this has produced a very pleasing attractive colour and an appropriate wood preservative. Definitely recommended.
It paints a fence.

It goes on well and soaks in. After the second coat its water resistant and the second coat can go on after two hours on a hot day. Wear old clothes, this is a preservative/stain rather than a paint, and so if you are not careful the brush can spray. Personally I bought a cheap brush and just threw it away afterwards rather than cleaning it.

I bought this to help preserve a new fence. It goes on easily and dries to a dark reddish brown. Didn't get the coverage expected though two coats on a 9M X 2M fence took 1 and a half cans.
Goes on very easily, looks great

Unfortunately my girlfriend stained the shed with Ronseal one coat, which is about as good as using a cup of coffee! This is solvent based and soaks into the wood so easily, even on top of the Ronseal one coat, so that shows how protective it is.... The colour is a rich dark brown. Only downside is that it lacks a pouring spout on the tin, so it goes all over when you decant it! Don't do it in your kitchen like me! Great product. You'll need white spirit to clean brushes as it's solvent based. Worth paying extra for
