Another Review - 4 months ago

I have now used low VOC / washable paint twice and both times there are so many brush marks in the finish, it looks like I have been using toothpaste! I have tried out the tin, thinning, painting in cold weather, different brushes, but nothing gives a finish close to what you get when you use oil based paint (yes I know this will yellow in years to come). I had to re-sand the radiator and use some Hammerite Satin Radiator paint which gave a near factory finish - what a difference!

I still have not used the paint. But, I was pleased to find low VOC paint for a radiator. In a couple of other hardware shops I had only found high VOC radiator paint. Like many people, I intended to use the paint within a couple of days .... but ... other things come along, like gardening! This will be a project for when the clocks change, I think. Difficult for me to rate 'ease of use', I will rate this as excellent, as I have used satin paint on radiators before, and have had no problem (unlike gloss). Come back to me in a couple of months, and I will give a proper review.

Please take note of the instructions on the tin. I applied the paint accordingly and it went on very well, not too runny, but will drip if you overload the brush! However, I noticed a couple of days later that any chipped spots on the radiator that I painted over had gone rusty. So, before applying this paint, you will need a primer - or even use another product that primes (metal) and paints in a single application.

    Avoid at all cost

Not Happy at all - 3 years ago

This radiator paint is awful, it starts to dry before you can brush it out, so you are left with a very rough finish. After applying the first coat I had to wait for it to harden before sanding down again and giving a coat of dulux satinwood, which in my opinion is far superior. I am a decorator of over fifty years.
