Product information

This antique pine interior varnish from the Ronseal Interior diamond hard range can be applied to interior using a brush. The varnish dries in just 20 minutes and will cover up to 24 m² per litre on average.

  • Guarantee - Statutory
  • Surface Preparation - Ensure the room is warm and ventilated. To prepare the wood for varnishing, give the surface a wipe down with a cloth and white spirit to remove wax, grease, dirt and oil. Use 120 grit sandpaper to give the surface a quick sand and smooth out any rough patches. If the wood has an old coating on it, sand away the peeling, loose and flaking bits so the surface is even. Let the dust settle and wipe it away with a damp cloth. Leave the wood to dry thoroughly before varnishing.
  • Instructions for Use - Give your varnish a stir, and test the colour on a hidden patch to make sure you’re happy with it. It may darken your wood slightly but it should bring out its natural colour. If you’re happy with how it looks, apply an even layer of the varnish painting in the direction of the woodgrain. Wait one hour for the coat to dry. You will need two to three coats for complete coverage and protection. Before you apply your final coat (whether that’s the second or third), sand down the surface and wipe the dust off with a cloth. This will help your final coat stick smoothly and will give you a perfect finish.

Perfect varnish

Perfect, i’ve been using Pine wood gloss for few years now for most of the furniture in the house. Recently used for internal doors as we’ve replaced them. Brilliant, two coats and looks amazing.

Colour matching problems between tins!

This Ronseal stuff is excellent and half the wooden panels and exposed floorboards in my house is covered in it, but in this case We were bitterly disappointed to open the three tins we bought from B&Q to find that they were completely different shades of "Antique Pine" from each other and indeed from the two tins we bought from Barnitts (which were, incidentally different from each other, too). We ended up blending the five tins together in batches to produce a sort of average shade that bore no resemblance to the rest of the Ronseal Antique Pine surfaces we've already covered. On the plus side, though it goes on a treat, though you do really need five coats for that truly antique effect, it wears well (from the experience of the last ten years of Ronseal) and the brushes clean up a treat in warm soapy water using the "dib-dib" technique and wrapping the brushes in newspaper to dry out. Twenty minute drying time is a treat, too: if you're doing a lot of floorboards the first one is dry by the time you've reached the last one so you can just crack on!

Does what it says on the tin

Does what it says on the tin. The usual good quality from Ronseal.

Does What It Says On The Tin

Worth paying that bit more - consistently good coverage and drying time.

Love the finish if a little difficult to use

Have upcycled a chest of drawers and varnished the wood in my conservatory with this product. It does give a lovely finish but you have to watch for runs as you go as you can’t easily deal with them later. Am hoping it stands the test of time.

Ronseal pine Gloss Wood Varnish. 0.25L

I have been wandering if it’s worth revamping my chairs or should I get some new ones. I am glad that I revamped them and they look great not brand new but not far from new I think it’s worth a ton of varnish and try very glad I did

wood stain

Great colour and good coverage, also (so far) it stands up to knocks from the kids
