This is a water based varnish. I followed advice and chose to dilute the first cost (1 part water to 10 parts varnish) for a smoother finish (1st picture) I was applying this to pine which is very porous. The final picture is after 3 coats. Personably I found the colour to be too yellow/ greenish tint for my tastes

    Great finish. Not cheap

Wanted match pots to choose floor varnish but they don't seem to do them so got light medium and dark oak interior varnish instead as testers.
Chose light oak in the end. I'm very happy with the product, the floor looks amazing and the finish seems pretty tough. BUT I was disappointed that I had to trek around branches to get enough tins to varnish our entire downstairs. Most b&qs only had one or 2 tins and when you're doing 3 coats in 3 rooms you need more varnish than that! Staff helped by ringing other branches for us and finding availability etc. They were really helpful. But the main thing I learned is you need to plan ahead, ideally leave time to order online instead, and don't assume they will have much stock in. At 40odd quid a pop it's expensive stuff, but I reckon it's worth finding a trader who will jhelp you get them.
