Before buying larger amounts of paint for external wood, I purchase a small tin of Ronseal Spring green to paint a stripped pine dining table so my wife could use it as a potting bench. The paint went on great and a left it some hours between coats. Subsequent coats went on even easier and the finish was lovely. Within a day of completion, the paint started to crack as it dried and shrank. I repainted and the same thing happened again and again.... At the slightest touch, the paint came away to reveal perfectly bare wood; as if it had never been painted.

I am thankful for a number of reasons; firstly I only purchased a small amount of paint. Secondly, I only painted the top of the table and left the sides and legs and thirdly the 1.5 sqm that I painted will be relatively easy to strip and start again with another brand and fourth but not least, I'm so pleased that I did not use it on the exterior of the house and remainder of garden furniture.

I'm keeping the remainder of the tin and will be happy to show the paint to B&Q or Ronseal. Should they not be interested, it will serve as a permanent reminder not to buy the product again.

More 'Mint Cornetto' than 'Spring Green'

A great shame that we spent weeks stripping our front door back to then go and paint the whole thing in the weakest minty green colour you can find!
I wish i had googled a few reviews before purchasing to find most other people having the same problem. Applying the paint as well as the finish i couldn't fault just the colour which was no where near a match on the tin. B&Q advised to speak to Ronseal direct which i did and they processed a refund straightaway.
