Very good product but needs at least two coats.

After one coat I was a little disappointed with the slightly faded result, however after a second coat I was more than happy with the rich, golden colored finish.
Easy to apply and lovely colour

I used this to paint 5 lattice style fence panels which have been in my garden unpainted for about 16 months. It’s a bit alarming to open the tin because the stain is very orange, but it dries to a lovely golden colour which looks great in my garden. I applied pretty thickly because the wood was pretty absorbent, but the stain dries quickly and leaves a very even finish.

I hardly ever leave reviews let alone rubbish things off but this is a total waste of money. Simply has no covering power. One Coat ? My backside one coat !!!!
Painted over dark oak colour, 5 coats needed

We have old grey fence panels which we have initially decided to paint in dark oak colour by Ronseal. I have painted them with a Wagner sprayer set on maximum thickness. I was pleased that the paint was also very thick in the tub (stirred well all tubes). Now, because it came out as very dark, we have decided to lighten the panels by applying harvest gold. We bought the same amount of tubes, but these were not enough because the previous paint colour matters. In our case, it took 5 coats with the sprayer on maximum thickness per fence panel in order to achieve a harvest gold colour. The first three coats soak in and the dark oak colour can still be seen underneath. Applying the fourth coat brought a pale gold colour and it was the fifth coat that brought the actual (proper) harvest gold colour. Also, you need to leave at least one hour break between the coats, so that each coat is absorbed and dried properly. I have painted in one of the hottest days prior to other hot days. The fence panels need to be absolutely dry, otherwise you lock moisture in the panels if you paint after rainy days.

Hesitant to buy after the negative reviews but honestly can't fault the paint. Yes, looks like a staones yellow/ orange when applying but the colour changes to a beautiful golden colour. Is slightly lighter than the paint on my fence panels but still looks good and does the job well. Really impressed with the coverage of this paint too have done about eight 6x5 fence panels with a brush and the 9l tub still hasn't finished and can probably do another 2-3 panels.
