Valspar® Difficult Surfaces Primer & Undercoat is a multi-surface product ideal for sealing and preparing smooth substrates like tiles, glass, melamine, laminates, and ceramics. Its special formula creates a smooth and durable film ensuring maximum paint adhesion and a long-lasting finish whatever the surface. With its high coverage Valspar Difficult Surfaces Primer & Undercoat is quick and easy to apply, helping you to complete your project in less time. Apply 1 coat using a suitable brush, roller or professional spray equipment, when spraying, always back-brush immediately. It covers 10m² per litre, dries to touch in 1 hour and if a second coat is needed to cover dramatic colour changes it's ready for the next coat in 2 to 4 hours.
- Suitable for Ceramic, glass, laminate, melamine, metal, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) & tile surfaces
- Brush, roller or spray application
- Instructions for Use - Stir contents thoroughly to ensure paint is evenly mixed, apply 1 coat using a suitable brush, roller or professional spray equipment. Apply liberally, working from dry areas into the paints wet edge and finish with gentle verticle strokes, avoid excessive brushing. Extra coats may be required when making dramatic colour changes. Do not thin this product. Dries to the touch in about an hour under normal conditions, allow 2-4 hours between coats.

Excellent undercoat
Great undercoat to use on difficult surfaces. Thick consistency with only 1 coat required before applying a top coat. Covers blemishes and imperfections very well. I have used other brands and this is now my go to undercoat.

Good coverage
Does what it says on the tin! Covered the wall well, and allows the panelling to be painted. The consistency was far which allow good application and compatibility. A good adhesion.

Good coverage
I bought this product as it was recommended by the staff to use on tiles as I was drastically changing the colour of the original tiles. The paint went on well, only having to use half the tin for the walls. The coverage is excellent as I was covering a very very dark blue tile. The issue I have found is the end result, after painting the new colour on the primer, once dried, I have found that if you so much as lightly scratch the surface it just comes off.

Awful awful not worked at all
I bought this to paint cupboards, after cleaning as advised and sanding I painted the whole cupboard doors inside and out with the small tin so I was initially impressed it covered what I needed. It was left a few days to make sure all was good to do to coat . However as I applied the top coat I noticed bubbling and peeling as it started to dry, what a total waste of money and time. Now I’ll have to pay to wrap the cupboard or get paint stripper and start again with another better product, grrrrrrrr !

Great for up cycling difficult items
Used this products on a couple of occasion and I was really pleased with the results. I used this product to help upcycle a horrible cupboard in my living room (that hold my electric switch board.) & an old storage cube. This then allowed me to use my wall emulsion on top to help the items blend into the wall/ be repurposed. Was easy to use and was really happy with the results.

Brilliant product!
Brilliant product! Used this on my Kitchen cupboards as a base coat before changing the colour. So pleased with the result. Really hardwearing, I used the Valspar trade wood and metal over the top. I have been able to wipe/scrub my cupboards after any spills.

Painted etched glass,above doors.
Did exactly what I needed it to do,I painted the glass windows above our bedroom doors.To look like panels above the doors instead of etched glass.
