This customer chose an Eastern theme for their summerhouse, which we love. Not only is the purple shed paint the perfect colour for the theme, but the delicate stencils around the edges and roof really boost the design. And don’t forget the accessories – the handles, stained glass windows and lanterns are the ideal finishing touches for the far east look. To get a similar effect on windows try some sticky back plastic, available in a variety of colours and patterns.
For inside, they have continued the theme into the soft furnishings to make a calming and luxurious space to unwind, with plenty of plump cushions. For cushions, candles and other accessories, our Bohemian décor collection features lots in an eastern style.
Why not step away from the norm of bog-standard plain summerhouses and try designing your own relaxing hideaway?
“Have just done the finishing touches to my gorgeous little hide away - my she shed aka The Seraglio! My husband and sons put this up for me on my birthday! I had fun painting the windows and doing all the decorating and making quilts and pillows for the inside from old saris…I love it, the cats love it and look forward to many happy hours in there reading, relaxing and scoffing the odd chocolate or two!” Rufus T 1

“Both our 1year old and 4 year old LOVE it. Quality is fabulous especially for the Irish wet winters. I often go out to it myself and spend time in it with the kids playing when its too wet outside to play” ACK
This customer used our Cuprinol Shed & Fence Treatment in Forest Green to paint this pergola. The colour looks great matched with the rustic-looking stonework and combined with flower pots in complementary greens and browns.
The customer said of the paint: “So easy to use, great coverage. Painted 3 coats on to a newly built pergola with it, water just runs off it. Brushes clean with ease too” Timogen
This customer cleverly created a corner garden sofa out of wooden pallets. They then painted them using our Ronseal Fence and Shed Sprayer and we love the finished product. It would look great topped off with some comfortable seat cushions. We’ve got a range of outdoor cushions in vibrant colours that would look fantastic combined with the dark paint colour.
If, like this customer, you’ve got a lot of wood to paint then consider opting for a sprayer rather than a paintbrush. It’s sure to save you from tired arms and backache, and will cover a large area much quicker and get into all the nooks and crannys .
To complement your sprayed garden furniture we do a range of garden ornaments, including items that you can fix to your fence like those shown here.
"Couldn't bear the thought of painting 24 pallets with a brush so I bought this Ronseal fence sprayer. Best buy ever! Painted all pallets in under 2 hours. Paint went on really easily" Jownnc
Everyone loves a beach hut, so why not make one a feature in your garden? The ever-popular seaside design blends blues, greens and whites. This customer has gone for blue and a lighter colour for the doors and windows. Alternatively, you could create a striped effect in blue and white on the outside of your shed or summerhouse. We even sell beach hut summerhouses for the full effect, ready for seaside-themed colours.
For inside your beach hut, accessorise with nautical-themed signs and artwork. We offer framed art in a coastal theme that would work well on the walls. When it comes to soft furnishings, our Rural range includes blue and white coloured cushions and rugs that would go great with the look.
"A great addition to our garden… Now painted and with flooring fitted looks great" Eastneydave
Fed up of your boring brown fence? Liven it up with our fence paint, available in a range of colours. One our favourites is this Cuprinol Garden Shades in seagrass (pictured, on fence). It’s a lovely blue/green colour that is sure to brighten your garden, even on a dull day. What’s more, it can be used on more than fences – why not give your shed or wooden garden furniture a makeover to match?
We love the addition of bunting and string lighting that this customer has added to the fence, which looks fab alongside the seagrass. Solar-powered string lights like these Blooma Esteven Lights would work well – choose from bright colours like this customer has, or white to stand out against the seagrass.
“Very pleased with the colour, although more blue than seagrass but it’s completely cheered up a very drab, dull garden.” Marin123
The popularity of grey has moved from indoors to outdoors, making it an on-trend colour for fences and sheds. Like this customer, it looks great combined with lighter colours like creams and whites. They’ve used Cuprinol 5 Year Ducksback Silver Copse Matt Shed & Fence Treatment, one of our highest-reviewed grey exterior paints.
If you have trellises or lawn edging alongside your fencing it gives you more choice on colour. You could paint them the same colour for a consistent look, or introduce a new colour, like this customer has done with their trellises.
“So pleased after we transformed our garden from horrible red cedar to grey / cream” Bobbie1969
Outdoor paint is not just for fences and sheds. If you’ve got some tired-looking wooden garden furniture, give it a makeover with a new colour. This customer used Ronseal Bluebell Matt Garden Paint to renew their garden table and chairs, and we love the result.
“I bought this to paint an old wooden garden table and chair that I found in my new garden and it's given them a new lease of life. The paint was easy to apply and I am very pleased with the results” Honeymax
