Sleepers

Sleepers provide you with an environmentally friendly way to makeover your garden. They’re typically constructed from old railway sleepers, which means that they bring a natural, weathered look to spaces such as borders, steps, and walls. You can also use train sleepers for gardens to make attractive raised beds. Plus, durable wooden sleepers can help you to create a unique path around your property.

Sleepers are sawn timber pieces, traditionally used to lay rail tracks on, but they are now commonly used in gardening and landscaping environments. The beauty of railway sleepers is that no two are the same due to the naturally weathered wood they're made from, making them unique and able to blend in well alongside bedding plants, shrubs, trees, and ponds. You can use railways sleepers for border and lawn edging, as well as to create attractive retaining walls, pathways, steps, and raised beds. Sleepers boast excellent load-bearing properties, making them ideal for garden use.

You can purchase a variety of widths and sizes to assist with your gardening or landscaping project, and you also have the option to buy single sleepers or handy packs of 5 or more. We also sell both pressure-treated and untreated railways sleepers. Pressure-treated sleepers are coated with special preservatives, but if you choose to buy untreated sleepers, it’s recommended that you protect them with exterior wood oil twice a year to prevent water ingress (which can cause the wood to rot). We sell many decking oils, and you can choose between a variety of colours to give your sleeper boards a contemporary or rustic look.
